Mardi Gras Nail Art

Press Sample

Hi all! If you're new to this blog, then you may not know how much I love New Orleans and Mardi Gras. If you are not new, then you were expecting something glittery and fun to celebrate! I hope to get another post up with my second nail art, but I am utterly obsessed with this art, so I just couldn't wait to share!

Mardi Gras is actually six weeks, but the final few weeks is when all the huge parades happen! So I have worn this mani all last week and have been watching Instagram stories of people in New Orleans for weeks. I love the NOLA vibe so so much.

Obviously, I went with the classic gold, green, and purple motif. I also wanted to incorporate a diamond pattern, since it feels regal and Mardi Gras to me. Now I am going to blow your mind. I stink at free-hand diamond patterns. I went through my plates and grabbed a Christmas argyle pattern and simply colored in the pattern within the argyle so now it looks like diamonds. Not only did it save me probably 45 minutes, but it was sooo easy and effective!

Here are my color choices. I knew I wanted to use my favorite Mardi Gras glitter from Red Dog Designs, which I think is like 9 years old at this point. I love it so much.

I also want to mention that I did one coat of a gold metallic, since it is so opaque. The Stella Chroma takes about 3 coats to be opaque because of my nail line. Rather, I layered one coat of the gold glitter over the chrome so I could have less layers since I knew I would be dabbing glitter!

  • Gold base: Morgan Taylor Gilded in Gold
  • Gold: Stella Chroma Long Term Parking
  • Plate: Beauty Big Bang XL-032
  • Green creme: Duri Cosmetics Monkeying Around
  • Purple: Duri Cosmetics Hunting for Me
  • Glitter: Red Dog Designs Here Comes the Big Parade

I always pose with my beads! This is one of my favorite sets and I always wear them on Fat Tuesday. Although you get a ton of beads at the parades, this is one of the few sets that I bought for myself!

So do you "Celebrate" Mardi Gras? I want to be there, so I will be there in spirit!
