Cotton Candy Dry Brush with 90s stamping

 Press Sample

Well it appears I am on a 90s kick. I had the colors still out from my fun 90s look last week and well, I felt like wearing them again! This time, in a cotton candy color wave. And just like my other 90s mani, I intended on wearing it matte and then loved it shiny and stuck with it. Would it photograph better in matte? Probably. But I stuck with the shiny!

Originally, I was going to do a smoosh manicure where you blob colors on a stamper and just smoosh it onto your nail (usually over a white base). It's such easy art but I tell you, I make a HUGE mess every time! So instead, I opted to do a dry brush look over one coat of white and it gives a similar effect without the huge mess.

Here are the fun colors I used to achieve this look.

  • White base: 1 coat pop-arazzi Icing on the Cake
  • Pink: KBShimmer Pink or Swim
  • Light Purple: KBShimmer Bored Shorts
  • Darker Purple: Zoya Lena
  • Light Blue: Jessica Cosmetics Headliner
  • Darker Blue: KBShimmer Harbor a Crush
  • Stamping plate: Born Pretty Artist L002

I used a different purple this round because if you remember, Essie Play Date smelled super strong. Plus, I wanted something a bit lighter. When I think of cotton candy, I think of pale blue and pale pink, but I liked the addition of purple.

Once I did the dry brush, I was able to stamp. Since you remove most the polish off the brush for a dry brush, it does not take that long to dry. I found a stamping plate with fun "artist" images and chose this one which was different shapes. It gives me 90s vibes!

I tried to use the image in different directions to mix up when shapes would land. It's an easy way to add interest to your manicure with the same image!

I like that you can clearly see the image, but it does not take away from the base. You can still see the different colors but also see the white stamping image. You could also do black, which would be really striking. But I wanted something soft with this pastels. I do love stamping black over neons though!
