I haven't done leopard print in a long time and I loooove leopard print nails. I was going through old Mardi Gras posts and saw I did a Mardi Gras leopard print in 2017 and it was not great. Well, nothing better than the present to improve on previous arts. And I just love how this came out!
I wanted to create a wild and choatic leopard print look with the three colors of Mardi Gras: purple, green, and gold. These colors represent faith, justice, and power. I went through lots of purples, golds, and greens in order to narrow down this combination. I almost went with creme polishes for the actual leopard print, but where's the fun in that?!
Base colors:
- Green: Stella Chroma Make It Rain, 3 coats
- Gold: Girly Bits Sax Me Up, 2 coats
- Purple: KBShimmer Awfully Frond of You, 2 coats
Leopard print colors:
- Gold: Zoya Ziv and Astrid
- Green: Zoya Selene
- Purple: Zoya Giada
I had to practice this first to make sure each color combo was different. The gold has purple spots, the green has gold spots, and the purple has green spots. I wanted to make sure each color was represented. Then I did the same with the outlines. The gold wasn't sparkly enough for me, so that is why I layered the golds.
You know I had to pose with my special Mardi Gras beads. I just love them. I have them hung up in my office year round because looking at them makes me happy! I love that the necklace part of the beads matches the shimmer and sparkle of my nails. I am just a big big fan of these. I will be making a King Cake and muffulettas tonight. I can't wait!
