Mardi Gras Nail Art

 Press Sample

It's Fat Tuesday today, aka the end of Mardi Gras. I really love New Orleans and the south in general. My experiences in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Georgia were all fabulous and I cannot wait to go back (and finally see Alabama!). So I always try to fit in a Mardi Gras mani and well, I'm just in time!

Mardi Gras is all about the excess, so I took the core Mardi Gras colors: purple, green, and gold, and made a mess on my nails! It came out kind of ugly, chaotic, and super blingy, which I think fits perfectly! I mixed up finished of the class colors. I have shimmer, shimmer with flakes, microglitter, and a straight glitter top coat!

For my Mardi Gras colors, I used:

  • Green: Stella Chroma Cunning Folks 2.0
  • Purple: Stella Chroma Crazy for Speed
  • Gold: Stella Chroma Long Term Parking
  • Glitter: Poetry Cowgirl Beads on Bourbon

First I did my nail half purple and half green. I really was not going for precise here. I just used the polish brush sideways and painted half my nail. I used three coats of each color.

Then I dabbed on the glitter top coat in the middle-ish but more towards the green part. I ended with gold dots over the purple. Slapped on top coat and called it a day!

I had to pose with one of my favorite sets of beads. Normally, when I go out and run errands or go to work, I actually wear these. Let me be festive, even in NYC! lol. This nail art had no plan going into it and it is super fun!

Laissez bon temps rouler!
