Stella Chroma American Muscle Collection, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Vroom, vroom! As we scuttle into the weekend, make sure you set aside a moment for the new Stella Chroma American Muscle collection, which releases tomorrow, June 21st. I can appreciate a pretty car! While I'm not into going 150mph, I do love the look of old classic cars. I love them even more in fabulous colors. Well, Stella Chroma took inspiration from that (finally!) and created this new American Muscle Collection. Keep reading for discounts and a coupon code!

All Charged Up: 3 coats plus top coat. This gorgeous neon green-yellow was inspired by the late 60's Dodge Charger. Super fast and super noticeable. This color will get attention. Opaque in 2-3 coats, it screams summer with just a touch of "Look at me!" I have the forsaken opaque nail line, so even at three coats, you can see some VNL. Pam, the maker at Stella Chroma, has already addressed the issue and added more pigment. To be honest though, in person, the VNL was minimal. This is so bright and every time I see a car in this color, I want it!

Crazy for Speed: 3 coats. "As a kid, I was always drawn to the purple cars. When Mr SC and I discovered Mecum Auctions, the 70's Barracudas in Plum Crazy still get me! Deep purple with gorgeous shimmer that shines through! This one will take 3 coats for opacity for most folks, and that was intentional because I want the shimmer to shine!" For sure, purple cars are so fun! As her quotation mentions, this will need three coats so the shimmer doesn't drown. This is for the purple lovers. At times, this almost appeared blue, so it has that blurple vibe!

Grab the Wheel: 3 coats.  "The classic Ford Mustang get a nod with this creamy, eye grabbing blue. Goes on like butter and shines bright at 2 coats! This one will be great for nail art and imagine the beauty of it as a pedi while sitting poolside." If this isn't a poolside color, I don't know what is! It's such a bright blue and goes on so smooth. I did find that this was opaque at 2 coats and added a third for no reason. It didn't make a difference.

Hug the Road: 3 coats. "You can't talk classic American muscle cars and not have a late 60's Chevy Camaro represented. Here you go. Not quite neon, but definitely not quiet. This orange cream applies beautifully and will get those nails noticed at 2-3 coats." Orange cars are so rare! I feel like I don't see them too often. It's my dad's favorite! This is such a shiny orange! It's like a deep orange juice on my nails. I used three coats because of my pesky VNL but shorter nails will be good in two coats.

  3. I love the inspiration here! While I don't have first-hand experience with owning or driving muscle cars, I sure as heck had all these in my beloved Matchbox and Hot Wheels collections as a kid. I spent many hours "driving" those cars around my parents' and grandparents' houses.
