Jessica Cosmetics California Girl Waves Nail Art

Press Sample

Cheers to a new week! I meant to share this on Friday, but decided to take a long weekend for my birthday. Why not? I'm trying to remind myself to blog when I want to and not out of obligation. So I've been wearing art for a while, and not swatching as fast. I'm just taking my time! From my last post to now, I decided to chop chop my nails! I shared swatches of the Jessica Cosmetics California Girly collection last week (check them out HERE). Now I'm back with art!

What is more summery than the beach? And I feel like for a California Girl, beach is life! So I decided to do some waves art! I've done this look before. It's really simple but I dig it. I knew the colors in this collection would work well with it!

I started with the lightest pink of the collection, Desert Sunset. I figured the colors would pop nicely off the light salmon base. I also love lighter polish colors in the summer, so I wanted a light base. This is a great salmon creme, and I used two coats for my base.

Then I took the remaining four cremes and with a striping brush, drew squiggles. The cremes have such a nice formula, that one coat was enough. That's key for art like this. Doing multiple coats takes forever! This was very quick. Popsicle Kisses (the pink coral at the tip of my nail) can easily be a one coat polish.

With the final color, the only shimmer, I traced out the squiggle waves. That definitely took the longest for this art. But I felt I wanted to use all 6 colors for the art and I think it worked! Topped it all with top coat and wore it for 6 days, no chips, before changing my mani.

Art like this really shows how cohesive a collection is! What seemed a little pink-heavy feels very balanced now and it's really pretty! I totally see a nice beachy collection.

I'll be back with more art with this collection, but as I mentioned above, I'm not in a rush. I'm really just enjoying playing with polish at my pace. I do have a list of art I want to do, so trust me, I have more ideas with this collection!

The California Girl collection is available now and retails for $9 each.
