Polish Pickup returns next week with a theme of 1980s. They did 1990s not too long ago, but I guess people couldn't get enough of decades. So for the 80s, we have lots of fun colors and the inspirations are super fun. I didn't grow up in the 80s, since I was born late into them, but I still know much about it due to my older siblings and cousins. Happy to report I know these inspirations! Ok, let's get to it!

Safety Dance: 3 coats.
Cost & Cap: $8.50, no cap.
Inspiration: Safety Dance music video.
Thoughts: This is such a funky color and I'm digging it! It's a yellow gold shimmer polish with copper to pink shimmer. It's a little sheer for my longer nails, but it's okay with three coats. I love weird colors and when makers think outside of the box. It's like a shimmery mustard.

I Still Love My Caboodle!: 2 coats.
Cost & Cap: $12, 100/US, 10/UK
Inspiration: "Be honest, you probably still have one in your bathroom…AND YOU LOVE IT! Caboodles were first introduced in the 80s, with their dazzling array of bright, pastel and sparkly colors, and quickly became a staple for every girl's makeup collection."
Thoughts: This polish has the most gorgeous formula. It was so buttery, it was almost good at one coat. This is a tiffany blue polish with pink to blue shimmer and scattered holo. The holo is definitely there, it's just harder to see in my lighting. The sun refused to come out. The pink to blue shimmer is a nice contrast to the base.

I Still Believe: 2 coats plus top coat.
Cost & Cap: $12, 75 US, 15 UK.
Inspiration: Tim Capello in The Lost Boys
Thoughts: Omg this is soooo fun! I feel like this is such a departure for Fiendish Fancies and I'm not mad. It's beyond neon pink. My camera made it look a little coral but it's definitely a pink. It also glows pinkish orange in the dark and will glow under black light (don't have one). The maker calls this a speckled crelly and that's spot on. There's purple, green, white, gold, and orange glitters.
Like most glow-in-the-dark polishes, they are soooo much brighter in person than in photos. This one is very strong!

The Brite Stuff: 2 coats plus top coat.
Cost & Cap: $10, no cap.
Inspiration: Rainbow Brite.
Thoughts: This is a bright blue thermal that changes from lighter blue to white as it warms. It's loaded with rainbow glitters, perfect for Rainbow Brite! I'm totally digging this. the base is the right color so that the rainbow glitters pop. I also like the shape of the glitters in this as well. This is just so fun! It also comes with a bag of star glitters.

Here are the Star Sprinkles that come with the polish. I loved it on its own, so I opted not to use them, but you can easily stick them on when the polish is tacky and then top coat it.

Stella Chroma
Don't Get My Seat Wet: 2 coats.
Cost & Cap: $12, no cap.
Inspiration: Inspired by the fantastic Purple Rain, with a nod to THAT scene (guys, I don't know what that scene is LOL).
Thoughts: A purple crelly base because... purple and Prince are synonymous. Black holo glitter and holo flakies because any Prince polish needs a little bling. And green/purple/blue flakies as tribute to the lake, the grass and trees, and the motorcycle. I was surprised how much I love this purple shade. It's like a muted grape purple. It's bright, but not obnoxious. The combination of flakes and holo is just perfect. I loveeeee this!

I love an 80s theme. Although I'm not usually a fan of thermals, I love Rainbow Bright!
ReplyDeleteThe 1970s, 80s, and 90s had a lot more fun trends than we do now. I especially love Don't Get My Seat Wet, and The Brite Stuff.
ReplyDeleteI really like the Dont Get my Seat Wet one! I love purples!
ReplyDeleteI might need that purple!
ReplyDeleteThat Fiendish Fancies is amazing!! But I’m partial to Don’t Get My Seat Wet. ;)
ReplyDeleteI'm not really into the 80s as a decade but I do like and appreciate all the references.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy 80s but I love the 90s too! I like the purple one in here
ReplyDeleteThank you for your detailed reviews! All your manis and photos are breathtaking!
ReplyDeleteIn the 80's I either wore light pink or bright red or bit my nails. If I'd worn purple I think people would have been shocked. Luckily these renditions are a lot nice than what I wore back then.
ReplyDeleteI love the interpretation of the theme for this month! I'm familiar with the inspirations as a whole although I'm not sure of the Purple rain scene either. I feel like I should watch the video so I can figure it out.
ReplyDeleteWow that Fiendish is bright! I'm totally digging it!
ReplyDeleteThat thermal really stands out to me!
