Watermelon Nail Art

Press Sample

The boyfriend wanted watermelon nails, so why not?! I decided to do a gradient with a sponge, and after I finished, I realized how much easier it would have been to stamp the gradient! So I fully plan to re-do this manicure, but I did like the look of this anyway. It's one of those nail arts that look great in person but meh in photos!

I feel like my boyfriend and I have eaten watermelon every week since the summer started. We have half of one in the fridge right now. It's just a staple of summer! When he requested watermelon nails, I almost did a stamped look. I'm all over the place, so I opted for a sponge gradient.

I started with a base of Jessica Phenom Gumdrop, which I've been using a ton lately! You should see my huge dent in the bottle!

I didn't quite do enough of the actual watermelon fruit red. I think this would have been easier to achieve the balance by using a black image on a stamping plate, so that's why I want to redo it. But I still think it's a summery and recognizable fruit on my nails!

I have a super cute summer fruit plate, so I'm going to try and whip up some fun fruit looks soon. They've be on my nail art to do list forever (yes, I have one!).

What's your favorite summer treat?!

  1. Super cute but it makes me hungry. I have half a watermelon in my fridge too and I want to cut it to match your manicure.

  5. I LOVE watermelon so these nails are totally up my alley. I never thought of doing a stamp for it though! Stamping has come SUCH a long way from when I started!

    1. I didn’t stamp these. These are a gradient with sponges. There’s a blank image plate for stamping gradients though, and it creates a smoother look!
