Stella Chroma Starring Chicago! Polish & Beauty Expo Polishes

 Press Sample

Hello everyone! I had hoped to have these new polishes up earlier but UPS decided they didn’t want to deliver them and then sent them back to Stella Chroma lol so I finally got them. Then when I went to swatch two days ago, we were hit with the Canadian wildfires smoke (I hope everyone is okay in Canada. Thinking of you) so there is a haze on my sun pictures. But anyway, Stella Chroma is going to Polish and Beauty Expo in Chicago which is awesome.

PBE Limited Edition set - Starring Chicago! This collection is inspired by four movies that heavily feature the City of Chicago which is where the expo takes place.

A Righteous Dude - Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of the quintessential Chicago movies! Inspired by the very 80's outfit Ferris is wearing on the movie poster, this shade is a creamy white accented with black flakies and gold holo glitters. Applies like a dream and is opaque in 2-3 coats, depending on how strong your nail line is.

A Righteous Dude: 2 coats. I absolutely knew I would love this polish because I love white-based polishes. In fact, I was disappointed I swatched it first because I knew I’d want to put it back on lol. This one reminds me of a sparkly cookies and cream nail polish with the black flakes. It definitely looks like granite on your nails. I also think it’s totally fitting for a Chicago polish. I also loved the formula. As you can see, my nails are pretty lengthy at the moment and I had full coverage in just two coats. Not only that, the flakes and glitter is dispersed nicely without any manipulating. I love this movie too. What kind didn’t want to do this?!

Baby Wanted 12 - I'm not generally a rom com fan, but The Break Up had so many great comedic moments! Baby Wanted 12 references the argument that started it all... Brooke asked Gary to get 12 lemons at the grocery store, and he didn't get it quite right. This bright, shimmery yellow has a heavy helping of shifty green shimmer. Opaque in 2-3 coats.

Baby Wanted 12: 3 thin coats. I know of this movie, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen it start to finish. But if it has something to do with lemons or limes, then this color is spot on. This one is more sheer as the shimmer is so strong. I may layer it over a yellow next time I wear it. I happen to love colors like this so it’s worth the layering for me. If you have shorter nails, I absolutely think it will cover two coats. But you can see with my longer nails and since I have such an opaque nail line, you can see a little bit of visible nail line. I will say that in person I was happy with wearing only two coats, but for photos, I added the third. I don’t know if my eyes are playing tricks on me but as I wore it, I feel like I saw orange somehow popping out like something with the combination of the shimmer created a coppery color. Love it, no complaints.

Babysitting Blues - Chris from Adventures in Babysitting was SO cool that young Pam totally wanted to be her. I'm still mildly obsessed with camel-colored coats, and it's all because of this movie! This polish has a creamy camel base and is packed with pink shimmer and rainbow colored flakies as a nod to Chris's coat and scarf. Opaque in 2 coats.

Babysitting Blues: 2 coats. So I totally know the movie, but I was a little too young to have seen the movie when it came out. I know my older siblings and cousins absolutely loved the adventures in babysitting. I guess unlike Ferris Bueller‘s Day off, which also came out before I was born, I never got around to seeing the movie. But I googled and I saw the color inspiration immediately. I love orangey beige and so this color with that shimmer really works for me. It’s definitely a unique color which I love to see because I definitely feel like I get fatigue from seeing the same things being released.

Curl Up & Dye - The Blues Brothers is the other quintessential Chicago movie, in my opinion. I've wanted to make a polish and name it after the beauty salon Carrie Fisher's character works at for years! This one is a bright berry pink with a strong blue shimmer and silver holo flakies. Opaque in 2-3 coats.

Curl Up & Dye: 3 thin coats. Hundred percent thought I wouldn’t love this one but when I put it on, I fell so empowered lol like I don’t know but that’s the word because it is so bright and sparkly but it’s also sort of a dark pink that’s neon and I just really love the shimmer. Again, I know of this movie, but I have no idea about the scene that the polish was inspired by. At two coats, you could see a bit of my nail line so I did a very thin third coat. I will say I only had visible nail line on two of the nails but for photos I just added three coats to all of them. You will probably get away with just two coats.

Overall, I have no least favorites of this collection because I think it’s an extremely strong four-piece collection. There will be a deal if you buy all four at the show and I think you should just go for it if you’re there because they are all awesome and unique. I also think that you could do some awesome nail art with this entire collection, which is why I love small collections that are cohesive because it lets me do just that.

This set is limited and will only be sold at Polish & Beauty Expo on July 19th. They will be $13.50 each, or $50 for the full set of 4.
