Fourth of July Nails: Happy 250th Birthday, America!

 Contains press samples

Well I meant to do lots of red, white, and blue looks before the Fourth of July. By with the World Cup and heat and just overall enjoying my summer, I actually left my previous manicure on for literally 12 days. So last night I forced myself to sit down and do a combination of the looks that I had wanted to do throughout multiple manicures. So let’s take a look at my nail art.

I went with classic stars and stripes and a little bit of fireworks. This is America’s 250th birthday and there has been lots of publicity over that. I wanted some sparkle so I added a little bit of glitter to the look. Then as I looked, I decided to add even more glitter. Originally my outer nails had nothing on it glittery but I guess I was simply feeling the moment. I seriously kept adding more and more sparkle and I’m not sure if that was the right decision but I was feeling it lol.

Obviously, I went with classic red white and blue, but I feel like I didn’t do obvious stars and stripes motif. I feel like that’s because I simply stink at drawing stars. I only have a few stamping plates and I wasn’t really sure if I even had stars, but I really just wanted something simpler in this superduper heat wave that we’re going through.

Here are my Americana colors:

  • White: KBShimmer White Here White Now
  • Dark blue: Stella Chroma Big Sky
  • Light blue: Zoya Boo
  • Red: Morgan Taylor A Kiss From Marilyn
  • Silver: Morgan Taylor Ice or No Dice
  • Glitters: KBShimmer In a Flurry and KBShimmer Star-Studded

This look has some stars as I picked out stars out of the new KBShimmer glitter topcoat, it has waves to represent the waves of the flag and then there are also stripes for the flag. I did add two tones of blue just for a little bit of dimension, but I repeated the colors throughout all of the nails. I actually love how this came out even though if it is a little chaotic. If you ever see a firework show, you know that’s chaotic as well so I feel like this is pretty fitting.

And here is a shot of my full look, even if it is an awkward pose. I added the same fireworks nail on my thumb but did two fireworks since I had the space. I repeated the exact same art on both hands!

During Fourth of July, I always look forward to barbecuing although with the insane heat wave I think we will be moving it inside. I always make my famous macaroni salad and this year. I did a spin on potato salad by doing that viral crispy potato salad. Basically, I made the potato salad I always make, but instead of simply boiling the potatoes, I boiled them and then roasted them in the oven. What are some foods that you like to make for your cookouts? I just love how these came out so I hope you don't mind if I continue to do some summery red, white, and blue looks, because I have so many ideas!

I hope that you have a lovely day today and if you’re in America, I hope you have a safe holiday. I did manage to check out some fireworks displays locally and we catch the New York City display on TV. There are also ships coming through the Hudson River and I got to see a front view. So it really is a fun gathering for the 250th birthday. My. Ehmkay has a better camera but I wanted to get this post up today so here are two photos of ships!

Have a safe Fourth of July and enjoy your barbecue, stay hydrated, and stay safe!
