Hello!!! Yes, I did just disappear. I mentioned in my last post that I would hopefully have good news, and I do! So keep reading for more details. I did not intend to take this much time off and frankly, my nails have been super plain lately, so let's get to it! I actually did this nail art back in November, knowing I would probably not have as much time in December. I was right! Hahah.
So as part of my doctorate, I have to do two defenses. The proposal defense and the final defense. Without passing the proposal defense, you cannot move on to data collection. Well I had my proposal defense and I passed! So I immediately dove into submitting the 14 forms to be approved for data collection, as it can take up to 8 weeks for approval. I was so nervous for the defense! I actually did a practice defense and Pam from Stella Chroma was there. She mentioned my nail art was distracting haha so I opted for Stella Chroma Forgot the Crystals for my defense and I wore that for 11 days. Hence why I don't have much to show!
Updated to add that my study was approved!! I just found out today and since I just finally posted on my blog today, I wanted to add this. Tons of good vibes with today! I cannot believe I was approved so quickly. I was in tears when I saw the email. Yay!
So in November I saw a gingerbread manicure on Pinterest and it was so
simple and so striking. I’m obsessed with this look. And I feel like I
have nothing else to say because I love it so much. Literally white designs on a brown nail. Perfect icing on cookie look!
This look is literally only two colors. I actually only had four
potential options for gingerbread and then saw that one of the colors I
picked out was literally described as gingerbread. I narrowed it down to
two and Mr. MK picked this one. He is so good at colors. Also, I hope
after all this time, people realize ehmkay is MK phonetically. I
recently had someone ask about what it meant.
- Brown: Zoya Kahula
- White: KBShimmer White Here White Now
Also, I fully thought this would take me an hour or 90 minutes. But all 10 nails only took 30 minutes. I was shocked. I think waiting to topcoat is what took the longest because I was so nervous of the white smearing. A little smearing occurred but I really did not noticed until cropping photos!
I wanted to share this look shiny as I did like the way it looked but always envisioned it as matte. I think the matte emphasizes the baked gingerbread look more but I did not dislike it shiny. You decide!
I have so many nail art ideas but just knew that this semester would be chaotic with my doctorate. I told Mr. MK back in August prepare for me to be crazy the next 4 months and I was right haha. I am hoping that I can catch a little break as my semester ends tomorrow! Cheers!

I am so proud of you Michelle. It won't be long we will be able to call you Dr. I certainly hope you enjoy your break. I am loving your manicure . I don't think I have that zoya shade. Now I need it. I'm usually team glossy but this looks amazing matte. Thanks for sharing 💜

Thank you! I was initially disappointed I wouldn't hit my goals this semester, but I somehow received a quick approval to conduct my research. I still have 8 months, but I am sure it will fly by. I did do some swatching last night and hope to get more posted. This Zoya is 2022! I love it.
DeleteWow, great job! Hard work is paying off! Thanks for sharing this and all your manis- Finished10dnails
