KBShimmer Sea-ing is Believing Swatches and Review

Press Sample

At least for me, spring break is around the corner. That also means I’m halfway through my hardest semester of my degree, phew. I have the KBShimmer spring collection because my time is so limited I swatch this when I could which means no sun or outdoor pictures. The weekend I watched it we had our second snowstorm in one week so the ground is covered. Of course I am doing a spring collection when there’s snow on the ground but it just reminds us that spring is not too far away let’s get to the collection.

Dressed to Krill: 3 coats. “a vibrant shifting fuchsia nail polish inspired by those crustacean-colored swimsuits. A pink-leaning red base amps up the fun fuchsia-to-violet shimmer in this lacquer. In bolder lighting, the polish color nears hot pink, while at other times, the coral and red-orange tones take over.” OK I have no idea what the description means by crustacean colored swimsuits. Somebody enlighten me lol. But it’s a great bright pink that I feel like anyone would love on their toes on a beach vacation. There’s a little bit of visible nail line in my photos, but in person, it really was not noticeable.

What a Pearl Wants: 1 coat over Dressed to Krill. is “a white iridescent microflake nail polish.  This multifaceted shade can be layered to add an opalescent shimmer to any manicure. Two to three coats worn alone form a uniquely colorful manicure showing off a rainbow of hues in pink, gold, green, and copper.  Over some shades, you may catch hints of blue. As with most microflake polishes, thin coats with some drying time in between will offer the best results.” I chose to layer this polish as I knew it would give me lots of visible nail line, and I just was not in the mood for that. Seeing how opaque it is, I definitely might wear it in the future alone and definitely over a white. I bet it is stunning over white.

Shell We?: 2 coats plus Smooth Moves.“A muted beige reflective shade amped with a shifting shimmer. This neutral hue easily shows off its copper-to-rust-to-gold shimmer. Bright lights or flash amp up the reflective sparkle, with a muted rose reflection coming through. This finer reflective pigment applies easily and covers in two coats for most.”  I absolutely love this color. It reminds me of figments of sand but in reflective form. It has that hint of orange and gold. And I love that from my nails. This is a different color from other reflective, so I am happy to add it to my collection.

It Comes In Waves: 2 coats plus top coat. “A light minty green crème nail polish with light aqua undertones. This Caribbean water-inspired shade covers well in one coat.”  KBShimmer makes amazing cremes and I miss her releasing them so I am glad they are back. I love this creme and it is bright and fun for spring color. Because it is so bright it dries a little matte, so you need topcoat for it to shine.

Super Star: 1 coat over It Comes in Waves plus Smooth Moves. “A fun nail polish topper loaded with small sea star-shaped silver holographic glitters swimming within a shimmery green to purple base. The shimmery base added a hint of sparkle when worn over a coordinating crème polish. Small holographic hex glitters in pink, blue, purple, and silver float within the base like fish in the sea.” How cute are the starfish glitters? This topcoat is really fun as I love the shimmery base and what it adds to a cream polish. The starfish glitters came out easily and plentiful. I placed them on the flatter part of my nails, but if you do not have curve nails, I presume they could go anywhere. Lots of glitter came out and it was just an overall cute look.

Isle Be There: 2 coats plus Smooth Moves then matte. “A teal-leaning cerulean blue jelly nail polish. Loaded with a mix of color-shifting flakes, the jelly base comes alive with shades of golden yellow, sea green, aqua, and teal blue.” This reminds me of a blue version of How's It Growing, which came out a few years ago. I always love flake polishes like this because they give that sparkle without the annoying removal like glitter.

Current Affairs: 2 coats. “A vibrant, Caribbean blue nail polish. An ultramarine blue base quickly flips to show off aqua hues. A scattering of holo glow flakes offers a subtle pop of sparkle like waves upon the shore. At some angles, hints of cobalt and turquoise appear.” I love this one as the shifting shimmer looks amazing with the bits of sparkle. Calling this a Caribbean blue is just a perfect description of it. It also has a wonderful formula and went on so smoothly.

Sea-ing Is Believing 3 coats. “A pale lavender microflake nail polish with incredible prismatic shift. This gleaming shade shows off a rosy-pink color that quickly transforms to peach and gold with a change in lighting or viewing angle. In some lighting, aqua and purple will pop from the flakes against the purple base. As with most microflake polishes, thin coats with some drying time in between will offer the best results.” This is the same finish as What A Pearl Wants, but it has some tint to the base. Of course, you could layer this as well over another lavender color but I chose to try this one on its own. I absolutely love the shift of the colors. Also, you will have shimmer everywhere upon removal, lol, but nothing a little sugar scrub can’t get rid of.

Get Off My Tail: 2 coats. “A mermaid-inspired shimmering nail polish with magical color flips. A bold grape base sets off a sea green hue that quickly flips to shades of teal, blue, and indigo. This vibrant polish is accented by glowing holo flakes, mimicking the sparkling scales of mermaid tails.”  This has the same finish as Current Affairs and it is really beautiful because it is not overly sparkly but just enough that it is special and will look gorgeous in the sun while you are on the beach. Purple lovers will love this one and I even like it because of that gorgeous teal green shift.

    1. I love a 2-coat creme! Especially because I use them so frequently for nail art and I use KBShimmer's a lot. My favorites will forever be the pastel neons! Thank you for enjoying my post!
