Zoya Sunshine Collection for Summer 2018, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Zoya's newest collection is called Sunshine, which is their newest summer collection. When I think sunshine, I think rich oranges and yellows, and well, that's not this collection one bit. The Sunshine Collection is very much geared in a pink and red motif, but if those are your colors, then you want to check out this collection.

Zoya Sunshine Collection for Summer 2018, Swatches and Review

Zoya Clementine: 2-3 coats. I did 3 because I dinged one of my nails and didn't want to redo it. If you didn't know, Zoya now has "Swatches" on different color skin tones on their site. When I clicked to see this color on a darker skin tone, WOW. I still love this salmon color with orangey pink shimmer on me, but I love how it looks on darker colors. This is one of the standouts.

Zoya Delia: 2 coats. I'm just warning you that I swatched this AFTER all the reds and pinks, and as you can see, it wrecked havoc on my nails and cuticles. It made Delia look much brighter than it is. This is muted amethyst color, so it's lighter than this. It's still a great formula and could be a careful one coater.

Zoya Ellie: 1-2 coats. Zoya calls this a raspberry sorbet crème, and that is so spot on. It's definitely a one coater, but my index needed two, so I did two for consistency. It's super rich, and because of that, you want to be careful with removal.

Zoya Jack: 2 coats. I did this color last and my cuticles were brutalized by all the pinks and reds, as with Delia. It's much more flattering on me than the photo shows. I even used it as a base for flakies last week. It's a nice nail art base or a neutral for days when you need it.

Zoya Karen: 1-2 coats. This reminds me of Hannah and Sookie. I think Zoya just wanted to perfect a one coat red and this is honestly it if you don't have a free edge as opaque as mine. It will definitely stamp.

Zoya Marigold: 2 coats, little VNL. I find colors like this always have VNL but honestly, I couldn't see it in person. It's reminds me of a deeper Myrta, a color I always loved.

Zoya Minnie: 2 coats. This is an almost neon-ish coral and I'm totally loving it. It's not the most unique color, but it is universally flattering with a great formula.

Zoya Missy: 2 coats. I feel like I have this summery pink already, but you can't beat a Zoya formula. But still, it's pink.

Zoya Nahla: 3 coats. Everyone is layering these and I am a big fat nope on that. I'm just not loving these layered, so I went full glitter explosion and did three coats on its own. Nahla is a heavy gold shimmer, with blue and violet shimmers and gold metallic hex glitter. I love gold polish, so I am digging this. I would also gradient this too.

Love this one in the sun!

The blue and violet shimmers jump out in the shade.

Here it is matte, which brings out that wowza blue shimmer more.

Zoya Saldana: 3 coats. Again, most are showing this color layered, and I'm just not having it like that. I think this would make for excellent gradient tips, OR 3 layers on its own. It's described as a cotton candy blue based shimmer, and with the strong pink shimmer, I definitely get cotton candy vibes. There's also blue metallic hex glitters in here, in various sizes.

Obviously, my VNL is stronger in direct sun, but I wanted to show off the sparkle in the sun. Even though I have an opaque white edge, it really wasn't that visible in real life.

Zoya Saldana

Oh my, in the shade, that violet-pink shimmer is really gorgeous. I much more appreciate this color on its own rather than layered, and I applaud Zoya for creating a unique polish.

Zoya Saldana

Here it is matte, which I thought would make a grander effect. It definitely brings out the pink shimmer more.

Zoya Sandy: 2 coats. This is a flamingo pink if I ever saw one! It has blue undertones and a great formula. I know this one will stamp. It's also a great pedi color, since it's almost neon and I love neon toes.

Zoya Virginia: 2 coats. This color always is a favorite for me. In fact, it probably was my favorite of the collection, except that it reminds me of Sonja and Dixie. This color is juicy and reminds me of watermelon, although Zoya calls it a coral.

As I mentioned earlier, the absences of oranges, yellow, greens, blues, or anything beyond red and pink is somewhat disappointing. I do expect more from Zoya in terms of variety in collections, especially a 12 piece collection. The colors here feel mostly done already, if not by Zoya. I just think last year's Wanderlust collection was so great. But at least these have the awesome Zoya formula and they are 10 free.

My favorites are Virginia, Minnie, and Clementine. What are you favorites? I really want to do a comparison post, but it might not be until the end of June due to my schedule. Would you still want one then?

    1. I still love Zoya but this collection was a little too one note. I don’t always want super complex polishes.

  8. Virginia and Clementine were my top picks from this collection. I was really hoping to see a fun orange, yellow or even a green from Zoya this summer so I guess they're just making me wait longer for them....

  9. I'm all about the pinks and fuchsias but yeah, sunshine definitely makes me think warmer colors like yellows and oranges. I'm kind of surprised.

  10. These remind me of Avon for some reason. I love red polishes, but the lack of variety here is a letdown.

    1. Very classic colors so that’s probably why.
