πŸŽ‰14th Blogging Anniversary πŸŽ‰

 Contains Press Sample

Holy cow, today is 14 years since this blog debuted! Since then, nail trends have certainly changed with indies becoming more mainstream and mainstream companies closing. I have always loved the idea of sharing art that is approachable and hoping that you can apply the methods with products that you already own. I hope that over these past 14 years, I have been able to inspire a nail art or even a nail polish purchase and help you to feel your best self. I love a fresh manicure and even all these years later, I still love doing my nails. I hope you enjoy seeing them. So let’s check out my blog anniversary look which also as always is my birthday look.

You know I always like to reach for neons and to do a rainbowy look for my birthday. And as the inception of this blog was my birthday manicure, I like to keep that tradition whether I do a plain color or art. My absolute favorite neons are the pastel neons and I can never get enough of them. I just love how wearable they are versus a true neon and I feel like I reach for them all the time. So I knew for this year because I had the time, that I wanted to do a nail art with some pastel neons.

I reached for colors that I tend to use a lot, but also pulled out some colors that haven’t been used in a while and I love doing that. I didn’t have my blue that I wanted to use as I lent it to someone so I opted for a teal which I think was awesome too.

  • Base: KBShimmer What a Pearl Wants with KBShimmer In a Flurry
  • Darker pink: Zoya Yohanna
  • Light pink: KBShimmer Pink or Swim
  • Orange: KBShimmer Push Your Luck
  • Yellow: KBShimmer Sand By Me
  • Teal: Julie G Tropical
  • Purple: Zoya Paisley

Oh my goodness just look at how gorgeous this is in the sun. The creams works so well with the shimmer. I also added a coat of holo flake topcoat, which wasn’t too obvious, but I do think gave an extra hint of sparkle. I thought of doing a hollow glitter, but decided that would distract too much from my neon squiggles.

I wanted to share some indoor shots because I still felt this was super effective in regular lighting. The neons pop off the shimmery base and I overall just like the mixture of colors that I ended up choosing as I think they were a really nice variety.

OK, back to more sun shots. The method to this nail art is that there is no method. I straight up dabbed colors on a piece of foil and drew random lines in different orders throughout my nails. To make it go faster, I did one color at a time on all 10 nails. Some lines have jagged edges while some are across the entire nail while some are just little dashes. This mix of length and shape adds more visual interest to what is essentially a very simple nail art.

I could not find my black light as I feel like this would look awesome under it. But I still wanted to show you the neon shades in the shade because you can see how they pop off that super shimmery base. I just love how this ended up, looking all together.

As always, I want to thank you for checking out my blog whether you’ve been here since 2012 when I started it or you are a new reader. I know blogs are an ancient method of sorts, but as I see the trend of analog coming back with cassette tapes and digital clocks, I can’t help but think that maybe people will return to reading the homely nail art blog. I appreciate every single view, click, and comment.
