Would you be surprised if I said this is the FIRST of two sardine nail art looks that I have?! My friend asked if I would do sardine nails on her, so of course, I had to practice on myself. This was not the actual look I did on her nails (that is to come as today, I plan to re-create it in my own way!) but I cannot even explain how giddy I was after doing these nails!
So I went with a Mediterranean snack plate concept LOL. Mr. Ehmkay and my friend love to eat sardines. As a vegetarian, I gobble on the olives and tomatoes. LOL. Are sardines a cute pink color like these? No. Am I trying to paint realistic sardines on my nails? Also no. But I just love how this came together!
Of course, here are the colors I used. I cannot decide if the look I want to do today will be a stark white or the soft white that I used here.
- Base: Morgan Taylor All American Beauty
- Red: Jessica Cosmetics Broadway Bound
- Pink: Jessica Cosmetics Desert Sunset
- Olive Green: Zoya Arbor
- Brown: Zoya Ryder
- Blue: Jessica Cosmetics Blue
- Tomato vine greens: Barry M Spring Green and Jessica Cosmetics Meet at the Plaza
- Black and white creme
I love the pop of blue in the manicure. It reminds me that it is like on a plate. I also think the blue lends to make it more spring or summery. Combine that with the pink sardines and some of the darker greens, and I think it is an overall balanced and cohesive look. I ended up doing the tomato nail on my thumb so it all came together.
Sardines have become very trendy in home decor, clothing, and to eat! What do you think of them for nail art? Like I said, I'll be coming back next month with another sardine nail art haha. I cannot get enough of them!
