Today I am sharing 5 new colors from L.A. Girl Cosmetics. I have polishes from this brand from ages ago! I have featured them on this blog too. In 2011 or maybe 2012, they came out with a sparkly holo line that every single nail polish lover went nuts over. Can you imagine finding an inexpensive holo in a drugstore? I’m excited to see that this brand is still around and creating new colors.
Look at this cute box! Just appreciate a cute little touch.
Barely There: 3 coats. As the name states, this is a very pale and sheer barely their color. On me it pulled more white, but depending on your skin tone, it might pull out some pinks or yellows. I love doing nail art with colors like this so I know that I will be using this so many times. You could probably get away with two coats but my pesky index nail always has such visible nail line. I also wanted to see how opaque it would get in three coats and I was impressed with that milky color. In fact, I probably should’ve stopped at two coats even with my longer nails. I used this as a base for the new Zoya Opals which I will share soon.
Warm Embrace: 2 coats. This is a neutral color that leans a bit mauve. It is definitely a color for a darker skin tone or a paler skin tone as it pulls out the red undertones of my nails. But it had a nice formula and covered two coats and it’s definitely a great neutral or would be be a great color to put a fun glitter over. It’s almost like a slightly darker mannequin hands for me.
On Target: 2 coats. This is a Target exclusive and is your classic red creme! It definitely screams that red color of the Target logo. It also is very squishy and jelly like. I was definitely concerned that this would stain. I only wore it for a few minutes and it was super squishy and gorgeous and did not really stain, but I would suggest that you wear base coat with this one because I do think it might stain as my cuticles had some red on it.
Vivid Dream: 2 coats. This is a magenta shimmer, and you can see in person some gold and blue flecks. It’s very sparkly and I was impressed with how opaque it was in two coats with all that shimmer. This is definitely a cute color and I can see it as a perfect summer pedicure.
Stormy: 2 coats. This has the same squish jelly like finish of On Target. It is soooo shiny. It is so dark that it almost looks black in certain lighting, but it definitely is navy. I was concerned with staining, but really didn’t have too much but of course I only wore this for a few minutes, so as always protect your nails with basecoat and be careful of your cuticles upon removal.
Overall, these are five really good basic colors and they are certainly affordable at $5. A lot of mainstream brands are definitely becoming out of budget for people who want to have lots of nail polish colors but can’t afford a $12 or $14 price tag. The formulas were really nice and there is a wide brush, which is great. As a heads up, I am not sure if these polishes are 5- or 10-free as there was a hint of a scent that I haven’t smelled in a long time. But looking at the ingredients, I’m not sure what it is that could contribute to the scent.
You can find their full catalog of polishes HERE. These just released on the website last month and you can find them in Target starting 2/15!
