12th Blogging Anniversary: Pastel Neon Waves

 Press Sample

Well today is a special day! 12 years of blogging! That's right...I began this blog on June 12, 2012! I definitely did not think I would still be doing this blog, but I don't think I'll ever stop doing my nails! I got a lot of compliments on this nail art. My tradition is to post my birthday manicure on my blog anniversary since that is exactly what I did on my first post ever!

My birthday nails are almost always some kind of neon. It is way brighter in person than it shows in my photos. As usual, blogs represent olden Internet haha. But I just do not love writing full reviews as Instagram captions and Facebook captions. I also do not love long swatch videos that take 15 minutes to listen to. Blogs will always be my choice! I am glad you are here to read it!

Here are the colors I used. I wanted some soft neon pastels and I love how this color combo came out!

  • Base: Stella Chroma Super Food for Nails
  • Flake #1: KBShimmer Ice and Easy
  • Flake #2: KBShimmer Raking It In
  • Sheer: Morgan Taylor Barely Buff, on top of the flakes for a "jelly sandwich" look
  • Yellow: KBShimmer Rum Me the Right Way
  • Pink: China Glaze Flip Flop Fantasy
  • Light green: Jessica Cosmetics Mint Blossom
  • Dark green: KBShimmer Shore Thing
  • Orange: KBShimmer Leggo My Mango

Yes, my nails might be a little messy because I took these pictures five days after doing my nails haha. I love the subtle bits of the flakes and the soft white dots. These flake top coats from KBShimmer are some of my favorites and I use them all the time! I also loved that I used Flip Flop Fantasy which is so old! I feel like using old nail polish colors brings me so much joy. And the formula was still wonderful!

I originally took indoor pictures but last minute took pics in the sun when it came out but I wanted to share this with you, since these are not as chipped because I took pictures right away, shocker! LOL. You can see how much brighter the colors look. I love that the two greens are not even neon, but still work with this look.

So there you have it. Cheers to 12 years! Thank you for sticking around! And I have a lot of art to share this month since I have been inspired and I love when that happens!

Products in the post were provided for honest review.

  1. Congrats on 12 years. I have enjoyed everyone of your posts. I really love this manicure and the colors you used. I love rediscovering polishes you haven't worn in a while. I used a girly bits that I believe was 7 years old and it applied like butter. Thanks for all your hard work and inspiring me to try new manis. Cheers to you 💜

    1. Thank you and sorry for my delay as blogger and Apple seem to not be compatible and I could not comment as me. I agree--why collect polish and then only use new ones?! I love to incorporate some old ones and I love that many are still in excellent condition. Thanks for the anniversary wishes!

  2. Happy Blogiversary again. Funny story.....I thought in case you ask which Girly Bits did I use I thought I had better check how old it was. When I put it on I didn't even check the name. It's 9 years old and it's the very beautiful Stardust. I completely forgot Pam created it for you. I love the neon glitters in it. What a funny coincidence . Thanks again for sharing all your lovely manicures. Maybe you could get Pam to create a whole collection for you.

    1. Stoppp!! That is so amazing! I have not worn that one in a while and I think it is time I pull it out. I have one that I use and one I have in a cabinet haha. Along with my KBShimmer collab polish. I don't think Girly Bits is making polishes anymore, but I do love the one I made with her!

  3. The people that took over the sale of her polish have 2 new ones for pre order that ends the 24th. So she's at least made a couple lol.
