Zoya Element for Fall 2018, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

We are definitely finally feeling fall. I know you've seen this collection, but honestly, it was just so hot, I couldn't bring myself to swatch this large collection haha. But now that it's FINALLY starting to be a high of 70s and not 90s (please don't come back), I'm sharing the Element collection. This is a very pink-heavy collection with some surprise standouts, so if you love pink, this is your jam.

Zoya Ruthie: 2 coats. This is a raspberry rose creme, which has a nice amount of dustiness for the fall. Nice buttery formula.

Zoya Alyssa: 2 coats. They refer to this as a purple-based cranberry creme, but it is a dark red creme on my nails. Again, nice formula. This one had minor stains upon removal, so watch your cuticles.

Zoya Donnie: 2 coats.  This  is my favorite of the purples. They call it a sangria creme, and that's about right. It also had some minor staining upon removal, so just be careful of your cuticles.

Zoya MaryAnn: 2 coats plus top coat. This is a pretty rose shimmer. It does have a nice glow to it.

Zoya Rachael: 2 coats. I've seen this color from Zoya 1000 times. A dark deep red, which I recall was also Courtney, Tara, among others. Also, watch for staining.

Zoya Kendra: 2 coats. Zoya describes this as a marsala creme and that's spot on. I do love purples like this.

Zoya Jenna: 2 coats. I don't know why, but this color hates me haha.  I think the blue undertones in this pink make it pull a weird way.

Zoya Rumor: 2 coats. This mauve has a super heavy shimmer, and you can see the brushstrokes. So use as few strokes as possible.

Zoya Devin: 2 coats plus top coat. This is a steel blue color, but almost appears purple with the foil shimmer in it.

Zoya Leighton: 2 coats. This is a blackened eggplant creme. It's definitely purple, but very dark. Again, will be nice for nail art.

Zoya Gardner: 2 coats. This is my favorite, probably because it's DIFFERENT. It's a bright periwinkle foil color with a magenta shimmer. Definitely digging this one!

I'm going to be honest here. I'm not sure what's going on with Zoya the last few collections. Maybe they've done market research and found salon consumers want only purples and pinks. The summer collection was all reds and pinks and this collection is purples and pinks. As someone with a lot of polish, I like all the colors of the rainbow and I feel like these colors are mostly uninspired. I do see a gold and a green for their holiday collection, so I guess that's something! I do have to commend the excellent formulas. I feel like most of these will be stampers!

The Element collection is available now, at $10 each.

I have to say for me, the standouts are Gardner, Ruthie, and Donnie.

  2. Gardner is the star of the show for me but I really like Devin too.

  3. I 100% agree with you about their lack of inspiration. This collection needed some olive, mustard, teal! It doesn’t really feel like Fall to me with only pink.

  4. The Fall Zoya collection is great! I love all the shades that they chose for this collection!

  5. What will happen when they run out of female names? The mind boggles. I love the look of this whole collection but I really only can see myself wearing the brighter blue.
