13 Days of Halloween: Halloween Ikat

Press Sample

I'm using my Halloween challenge to do some nail art I had wanted to do for a long time. Last year, I had Halloween Ikat on my to-do list but never got around to it. So I finally did it today! I didn't think I really liked how this came out, but then time made me wear it for 5 full days and I had tons of people grabbing my hands, telling me how much they loved it. Isn't that how it always goes?!

I started with an orange base of Morgan Taylor You've Got Tan-gerine Lines. I wanted a super bright orange knowing much of it would be covered by the ikat design.

The purple is Morgan Taylor One Piece or Two? The black is KBShimmer Eclipse. Lastly, the white is Zoya Snow White (which, I have to mention, smells so oddly strong).

I first outline my white triangles. The goal is NOT to make perfect triangles. I actually wished I was a bit more messy, and actually my right hand came out better! Then I did the purple triangle. Lastly, I added the black triangles.

I wore it shiny for the first two days. Then matte for three days. I preferred it matte, but figured I would share it.

Isn't it funny how the summer neon collection worked for perfect Halloween nails? I'm stoked that I finally tried out ikat! I'll definitely do it again!

  1. Since I don't know about ikat I don't know how authentic it is but it's certainly interesting.

    1. It’s just a sort of pattern, like chevron. I think it’s kind of authentic haha

  4. This is so cool! If you used holos or glitters it would almost look like cut gemstones. Thats what I thought it was at first!

  6. I'm loving this nail art for October. I love the way the orange pops and it makes the purple pop even more because of it.
