You knew it was coming! I had to pull out some oldie core Zoyas and do a massive comparison post to show you what's truly new and what might be too close for comfort. I won't lie; I feel like I hoard all the Zoyas just for these comparison posts! But I hope my lack of space makes it worth it to you!
Zoya Sophisticates Comparisons |
Brigitte (index), Presley (middle), Jill (ring), Rue (pinky): 2 coats for all. I wanted to be consistent in the post and compare based on color and formula. Presley is from the Fall 2017 collection and one of my favorites. Rue is way lighter, so it's not even close.
Now, Brigitte is more pink than Presley and Jill has more brown than Brigitte. No dupes! Frankly, I'm obsessed with these smoky purples and pinks. I vote that you need them all!

Hadley (middle and pinky) and Genevieve (index), Ryan (ring): 2 coats. Hadley is from the Fall 2017 collection and while it's a marine blue, Ryan on my middle has much more blue to it. I actually prefer Hadley to Ryan and I think it's time Ryan stop taking space in my Helmer. Genevieve has that hint of shimmer in a grey base and I used Genevieve all the time in art, so it stays!

Mona (middle and pinky) and Courtney (index and ring): 2 coats. If you don't remember in my swatch post from yesterday, I mentioned that these vampy reds just aren't that original. I stick with my original prediction. Mona has more purple in it and Courtney is much more red. Unless you absolutely love these reds, I wouldn't get both. I think Mona wins this one for me.

Elaine (middle and pinky) and Desiree (index and ring): 2 coats. You know, I truly thought I had a Zoya like Elaine already. I combed through my collection so many times and Desiree was the closest...in the bottle at least. These aren't even close contenders.

Gal (middle and pinky) and Aggie (index and ring): 3 coats. I saw in the bottles that these were very different, but in my head, I knew others would think they were too close without swatches. Aggie is much more gold toned with straight multichrome shimmer. Gal is green toned with copper flakes. Actually, I'm kind of digging this manicure like this. It screams HELLO AUTUMN, stamp me with some leaves (now, do I have a leaf plate?!)

Joni (middle and pinky) and Odette (index and ring). 2 coats. Again, based on bottles alone, I thought these would match. Just like the Presley comparison, these aren't alike at all. And to prove my obsession with these colors, get them all! Odette is much more purple while Joni has more brown.

McKenna (middle and pinky), Ana (index), April (ring): 2 coats. Like I said earlier, I wanted to see consistency amongst the swatches. April is obviously not opaque in 2 coats, but it helps to see it! Ana is much more paler with added white and McKenna seems to pull true beige against these. McKenna also has shimmer while the others do not.

Yvonne (middle and pink) Veronica (index), Pepper (ring): 2 coats. Again, do you now see what I mean about these reds? Pepper is much more brick colored with brown tones and it's actually my favorite. Yvonna vs Mona (which I now wish I did, is much more berry). Veronica has the most pink in it out of all the colors. Now, I should have done all 6 on a nail wheel! Pepper will stay and Yvonne. Maybe Courtney will go to my mom?

And there you have it! The other 4 colors just did not have any close dupes at all. Or, I don't own any close Zoya dupes. If there's another color comparison you want, let me know in the comments!
Until then, which ones are you grabbing or did you already grab!?

Thank you so much for showing Joni next to Odette! I was anxiously waiting for this post and hoping that would be your Joni comparison. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can always send me an email with what comparisons you want to see! Are there any others you wanted? I had to swatch the collection first because sometimes the colors in the bottles are deceiving! Odette and Joni ended up being very different and I love them both
DeleteI hope it was helpful!
ReplyDeleteI love comparison posts. This confirms that shades are similar but certainly not the same. For me that translates to: I need all of them.
ReplyDeleteHahah so true! Beyond Mona and Courtney, all are needed for me!!
DeleteI'm going to take these comparison posts and show them to my boyfriend each time he says that I have too many of the same polish.
ReplyDeleteI love these posts and seriously appreciate the work that you put into them!
Haha don't show him the reds! But the others are so clearly different. Thanks so much! I do love doing these so I'm glad others get help from them.
DeleteThis was super helpful! I wasn't sure about a few of these new colours, esp the reds. I'm quite fond of Zoya reds, but you do have to draw the line somewhere lol (and yes, Pepper is one of my fave polishes!) Since I won't be able to grab any of these new ones soon, I'll have awhile to think on a couple I was on the fence about. -@kateydandelion (for some reason my Wordpress account isn't working to post comments on a lot of blogs)
ReplyDeleteSee, I would hoard all the dusty purples. But reds? Nah. Pepper has always been a favorite though. They are half price right now! I should update my post. I do like Yvonne and Mona vs some of the older reds I have.
DeleteI know- it kills me that I can't partake in the half off sale! Maybe if I get around to actually doing a destash... hmmm. :o)
DeleteHey this is really awesome. Thank you for the comparisons :)
ReplyDeleteAny time!
DeleteThis is so great, so helpful. I especially like seeing Aggie and Gal. And I thought Presley would be a dupe for Rue. You just can't tell by looking at Zoya's renditions. I would love to see McKenna compared to Kennedy. Kennedy is my favorite nude but I love McKenna with the shimmer. Also I would love to see Mona compared to Toni. Thank you so much for the post.
ReplyDeleteThose fake renditions just don't help at all so I'm glad to help!
DeleteSo I checked my stash and I don't have Kennedy. I googled a ton of swatches and Kennedy is WAY more pink while McKenna is a true beige. McKenna also has a shimmer.
I also don't have Toni (you picked probably the only two I don't have LOL) and from swatches, Toni pulls much more purple. Mona just has a hint while Toni looks raisin colored. Hope that helps!
