Stella Chroma Desert Scapes, Summer 2020

Press Sample

This week is going to be Stella Chroma week! I am kicking the week with the Stella Chroma Desert Scapes summer collection. When Pam told me about the collection and shared a pic of them on a nail wheel, I was like YES PLEASE. I love how these colors look together. When a collection works, it works!

When I saw this collection, I also immediately thought of national parks! I collect vintage poster postcards from every national park I go to. My boyfriend and I framed a bunch of them and put them up because they remind us of our travels and memories. This one of the Badlands National Park totally reminds me of this collection! This park is in South Dakota if you ever get there!

Pueblo: 3 coats plus top coat. "Distinct structures made of stone, wood, and adobe mud look out of place anywhere but the desert. They blend in or stand out depending on the position of the sun. As it rises, it lends a bleached pinky tone to the mud walls and that’s the shade we modeled this color after. The gold/pink shimmer adds an extra touch." Bleachy pink is a perfect color note for this color. I love how it's almost a beige on me and I think the amount of pink in this will be determined based on your skintone. I love how this almost makes me tan. The shimmer is definitely much more apparently in person, but it's not so in your face. It's such a clean look!

Cactus Bloom: 3 plus top coat. "A buttery golden yellow with a gold/pink shimmer. Smooth and opaque at two coats. Inspired by the deep yellow blooms that contrast the deep green of a cactus." This is my clear favorite of the collection. It is stunning. It has that same shimmer as Pueblo, and like Pueblo, it's more obvious in person. I did three thin coats but you could do two thicker coats--it just depends on your style of painting. I think this is a perfect summer color. I am a huge fan of orange and yellow polish and I like how this color mixes them together. It's gorgeous.

Desert Turquoise: 3 coats, but honestly that third coat made no difference, so 2 will do.  "I can’t think of the desert without thinking of bright turquoise stones. Either polished in jewelry or rough to the touch,  the striking color is unmistakable. Our color is highlighted with a blue/green shimmer." 100% I can see this in gorgeous silver jewelry! This one has a stronger shimmer than the first two polishes. This is bright for the summer without being a neon. I can't wait to put this on my toes, even though I normally put cremes on my toes.

Prickly Pear: 3 coats. "The fruit of a prickly pear cactus is normally found in a range of shades from bright pink to deep purple. It has been used as food and medicine in many desert climates for many years. This shade is a deep pink-ish purple with scattered holographic glitter." Purple and holo will certainly win over the masses! I did three coats for depth. It's a bit sheerer so the holo glitter can com through! I feel like the holo is much more sparkly than my photos show! Holo and summer are a perfect pair!

Big Sky: 2 coats. "A vivid blue creme shade inspired by the endless summer sky. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a more beautiful blue than that of the sky above Chinle, Arizona. I tried to do it justice here." Sooooo juicy! Look at how squishy and opaque this in in two coats! This is such a rich cobalt sky blue.
