Memorial Day Veteran Poppies Nail Art

Press Sample

Today is Memorial Day, and while you may be enjoying it with the beach and a BBQ (I'm sure I'll partake in the latter), I like to remember the service of veterans and those who have fallen. I have done this manicure before, but I like to redo it every year. Every year, I buy poppies from local veterans, so if you see the "Buddy Poppy" around your town, please donate $1 and wear it proudly! I have one of my work purse year round.

Buddy poppies (the one in my photos below) are made by disabled veterans. To read the history of the buddy poppy, check out this short, but informative article

I used a base of China Glaze I Truly Azure You (blue). The grass is a blend of All Glammed Up (mint green) and Emerald Bae (darker green). The poppies are Flame-boyant (red). I added a basic white and black creme for the clouds and poppy details. I topped it all with matte top coat. All these colors are from the new Summer Reign collection, which I will post individual swatches of soon!

Here's how it looked shiny. I prefer matte, but both are perfect for the occasion.

  1. I think I like it better matte, too. I also believe it is a more somber holiday. Really lovely design.
