It has been forever since I have done a dotticure. What inspired the initial manicure is that I wanted a dark base. My nails have been so uneven and breaking that I have some shorter nails (and read until the end 😭) and this is when I love to wear dark colors. Then I asked myself, "When will I do Valentine’s Day art?" and that’s when I decided on a deep red for this manicure.
It is manicures like this where I am happy I keep all these random shades of colors from Zoya. I frequently look through my drawers and I am like, do I really need this many pinks? Especially because pink creams are so popular amongst all of the brands that I used to do PR for, so I have a lot of them. And then I do manicures like this and I remember why I keep so many pinks lol as well as shades of other colors. That being said, I probably can do another big purge.
Here are all the colors I used:
- Base: KBShimmer Mull It Over
- Darkest pink at cuticle: Zoya Monroe
- Medium pink: Zoya Brandi
- Light pink: Zoya Eden
- Lightest pink: Zoya Maddy
I used the darkest pink closest to my cuticle and then overlapped the colors as I worked to the lighter colors. The blending of the pinks almost give me floral vibes as well. From afar, sort of looks like petals that blend into each other. I love the cascading look!
I particularly like the shimmery base of the deep red against the pink creme polishes. Mull It Over is shimmery without being too in your face. It does not distract from the actual art on the nail. I pulled out a few reds with glitters and flakes and landed on something that was more simple. What do you think?
Now here is my bad news. I had a major ouchie. This is a break that actually ripped off part of my nail bed. I trimmed down my other nails as low and they could go and they are still longer than my broken nail. I have been wearing a black polish for a week out of blahness for my nail. I had so many cute vday arts I wanted to do. Alas, I wonder if I even bother creating art with such short and uneven nails or continue to wear plain colors until I have growth. I also wore the Zoya January color, which I loved, and never took pics. FAIL! So now that will wait as well.
So to do art, or not to do art?

I love a dotticure. Its probably the easiest way to fancy up your nails......and really everything is better with dots. I love the color combination you used. Sorry about your ouchie but please do more art. Thanks for sharing 💜

Yes!! Such an easy way to be fancy. I at least grew out my nail that it's not painful and tender, so I hope to do some uneven but fun nail art tonight haha.
