KBShimmer Throwback Collection, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

KBShimmer is celebrating ten years in business, and to celebrate that, they are releasing a throwback collection with polishes from 2012 and 2013. If you search my blog, many of these are actually on it from 2012. I won't link them, because they are embarrassing since it was my first year blogging haha. But I'm happy to have these back in my collection, now improved with a better formula! But honestly, these polishes are the same, if not very close to the originals!

KBShimmer Throwback Collection, Swatches and Review

**To save time, each of the polishes goes as following: first two photos with top coat, third and fourth with matte top coat. There's nothing I love more than glitters and glitter crellies matte! Also, because of the consistency of these polishes, it's best to wait 2-3 minutes between each coat.

Band Geek 2018: 2 coats plus top coat. I'm starting with one of my favorites of this collection. That's weird because I don't really gravitate towards black polish. But I love this black jelly loaded with silver, copper, and gold glitter. I get Halloween vibes, so that's probably why I love it! When it's matte, I get full moon vibes.

Berry Patch 2018: 2 coats plus top coat. Just like the original, this creamy pink polish is loaded with blueberry hex glitters, mini magenta glitters, and a smattering of white matte glitter and holo. I love the creamy base of this!

Clown Puke 2018: 1 coat dabbed over Tail Another Teal. No two bottles will be alike, since this polish has every glitter ever. Some of the updates to this polish includes larger circles, mini stars, and triangles. I don't recall those being in my original Clown Puke. There's so much going on here. It's all the colors of the rainbow and then some!

Elle 2018: 2 coats plus top coat. This is a pale grey polish with pink, white, and grey glitters. To me, this was always a cutesy color. I remember getting this one too 500 years ago haha. It was part of the Circus collection and I get Dumbo vibes!

Iris My Case 2018: 2 coats plus top coat. This is one I never got, and I'm glad it's back! I love the smaller glitters in the lilac base. My favorite is that pop of the coral pink glitter, but there's also purple, blue, teal, periwinkle, and white glitters.

No Whine Left 2018: 2 coats plus top coat. This one is amazing matte! I love it matte! This is a wine based polish with rich blue, purple, and pink glitter! Perfect for fall and winter.

Shipwreck 2018: 3 coats plus top coat. This one is a true jelly base, so I had a little bit of VNL at two coats. Nothing major, but I did three for photos. Shipwreck was one of my first KBs if I recall and this is true to the original. It's a teal jelly loaded with mini copper glitters and hex glitters in teal, blue, purple, and holo. I wore this for about 20 minutes and there was no staining. Because it's a jelly, the glitter really floats.

Teal Another Tail: 3 coats plus coat. This one had a little VNL at two coats, so again, I did three coats for photos. It dries down a little bit matte. This one was always on my wishlist but it was discontinued before I could get it. It's so pretty! It's a teal based polish loaded with pink shimmer and it almost gives off a duochrome look!

  6. I'm so glad you added matte top coat over the glitter crellies! As much as I love them shiny, they just look so good with a matte finish!

  11. Nice swatches! I came looking at photos because I bought a bottle of No Whine Left a few months ago -- I guess the bottle would have been about 2 years old or more by then. And I haven't worn it yet because the base color looks soooo ugly to me, much different than I was expecting and see in your photos. When it sits and separates an ugly babypoop color comes out and the whole thing just looks much browner and dirtier than it looks here. I have to wonder if the glitter changed the base color, although it seems surprising that it turned so orangey brown when the glitters weren't those colors. I am curious if your bottle has turned as well.
