Zoya Holiday Matte Velvets Winter 2015 |
First, let me say that the finish on these absolutely differ from the previous Zoya mattes. These have less shimmer in the polish. They are certainly shimmery, but once I get to the comparisons, you will see the lack of silver shimmer in the new batch.
Aspen: 3 coats. Because of the shimmer in this and Sue, the amount that gets on your cuticles after removal is insane. Be careful or you'll be swimming in shimmer for a while.

Sue: 2-3 coats. I could have been good with two, but I wanted three for depth. This polish is beautiful. I love the champagne color and when you top coat it, there's gorgeous iridescent rainbow shimmer in it also!

Yves: 2 coats. This is a deep navy blue matte. Be careful of staining when you remove. It's a little dark for my skin tone, but I love it shiny on my nails. Weird how that works.
Zoya Yves |

Yves with Pure Ice Blue Midnight on ring: These are obviously very different tones of blue and Blue Midnight has much more silver shimmer.

Iris: 3 coats. This one was a bit patchy with the formula and needed the three coats to even out. It's a deep eggplant plum matte. Another one that I prefer shiny.
Zoya Iris |

Iris with top coat: The purple shimmer is really beautiful in this.

Honor: 2 coats. I have so many green mattes like this. I will always love them. Unlike Yves and Iris, this isn't so dark. It's a great balance of pine green and bright.

Honor on index. Verushka 2014 middle. Verushka 2009 on ring. Revlon Emerald City on pinky. For this battle of the green mattes, I feel Honor wins. It is the most matte. The Revlon is a tad darker. And both Verushkas look less matte!

Amal: 2 coats. This one is a stunner. It's amazing. I seriously love this shade of red in matte and it totally sparkles. This is coming from someone who hates to wear red nail polish alone. It's gorgeous.

Amal on index. Posh 2014 on middle. Posh 2009 on ring. Revlon Ruby Ribbon on pinky. None of the colors are the same. Amal and both Posh versions are gorgeous. The Revlon looks pretty crappy compared to the perfection of Zoya.

My favorites are Amal and Sue. But really, this collection is beautiful and clearly very different from the previous mattes, so I say the entire collection is worth being picked up. I have no other mattes like them and they are equally beautiful matte and shiny.
