Croatia World Cup Nail Art

Hello everyone!! Unless you are living under a rock, then you know that it is World Cup time. I absolutely love this time and look forward to it every four years. I had every intention of doing nail art for the US game last Friday, but life got away from me a.k.a. I’ve been spending too much time watching soccer and I didn’t get a chance to do it before the game. I do plan to have USA nail art by the time they play but since Croatia played next, I wanted to represent them. If you didn’t know, Mr. MK is actually Croatian and was born in the region.  I actually did Croatian nails back in 2016 for a different soccer tournament but wanted to do them now.

 

Croatia has a notoriously difficult coat of arms within their flag. It’s a crest that has the signature checkers, but then has multiple small images on the top of the crest which you can see in my photo. There’s no way I could have painted that. So instead, I went with the national soccer league logo, which can be found on their jersey and the signature checkered pattern. I’m convinced Croatia doesn’t win when they aren’t wearing their signature white and red checkered jerseys so I hope they are wearing them tomorrow. If you watched the game last week, you knew it was rigged and I will die on that hill.

I used the classic flag colors! I thought of doing one nail with the red, white, and blue stripe but without the coat of arms, it looked like another country.

Last time I painted the checkers and they definitely were messy. I most likely didn’t have a stamping plate in the pattern. This year I stamped it and then went over it and filled in the parts that were a little bit messy and also I wanted to make it a darker red. It’s still not perfect because I have not done stamping in ages but it definitely looks better than my 2016 attempt. I am just so happy with how these nails came out!

This is the captain's jersey and definitely one of the most popular players in soccer, Luka Modric. When I wore this jersey last week, I had people of all cultures in NYC cheering my jersey!
