Gingerbread Holiday Nail Art

 Press Sample

I am such a broken record, but I am having the worst luck with my nails.  You will see just how short and uneven my nails are but hey, I am human and I still want to do my nails. Because of that, I haven’t really been doing nail art lately. So I sat down and said let’s try something simple and boy am I out of shape with using my non-dominant hand. It’s usually not a problem for me, especially with simple designs like this but yeah, I definitely need to get back to nail art so I can be a better lefty again lol. Anyway, here is my first holiday nail art.

I saw this manicure on Pinterest, but the image was saved by someone else who cut off the watermark so all I can see is the account begins with the word nail, which doesn’t help me narrow it down. So of course if you know what nail art I’m talking about, please let me know so I can credit. I loved the idea of magnetic gingerbread base and so that’s what I went with.

I think I have become a magnetic convert with the horseshoe magnet, which turns the polish into that velvet look. I’m now going to go back to older magnetics to see how they look with this magnet and maybe I will use these polishes more. I actually think this is the first time I have ever used a magnetic polish to wear for a full manicure. Yep I always just swatch them and put them back into my  helmer if I like the color and really never look at them again.

  • Base: KBShimmer Root Awakening
  • White: KBShimmer White Here White Now
  • Green: Barry M Spring Green
  • Red: Zoya Hannah

Since I think this is probably the first time I have worn a magnetic, I now know that they are chippy! I chipped my dominant hand pretty quickly.

I did two coats of the magnetic and then used creme polishes to draw the gingerbread icing motif. This was super simple if you think about it! The accents had to be creme because the magnetic was so sparkly and velvety. Like I said, I never wear magnetics, but loved the vibe of this! I wanted to matte it just to see how the magnetic looked matte, but it chipped too quickly.

Because of the reflections created from the magnet, it was difficult to take a picture because there was so much glare! I tried many lightings. But you get the gist of what this looks like and how fun!

I have a few more holiday looks so I hope you are in the festive mood!
