Mardi Gras is tomorrow!!! I am not ready. I am a little disappointed that Mardi Gras coincided Valentine’s Day as I had a few other Mardi Gras nail art ideas, but ran out of time. I love the combination of purple, green, and gold, and what it represents for Mardi Gras. It’s just so fun and I always think back to when I visited New Orleans during this holiday.
So I wanted to share this look both with flash and without. For Mardi Gras, I wanted to use reflectives because they are perfect for a party and I had all the colors.
Very simple look of three colors but here they are:
- Base: KBShimmer Berry Chill (almost went with Awfully Frond of You)
- Green: KBShimmer Pull It Together
- Gold: KBShimmer Slush Fund
Stocking Development is more of a Mardi Gras green, but it really depends on your base. It was just a tad too dark against my base color. Of course you could do a purple, green, and gold reflective over a different color base but I felt like purple nails. I never do purple nails so when I feel it, I like to indulge. I feel like I only wear purple during Halloween and Mardi Gras. This is such a simple look. It is literally dots using reflective polish across your nails. It reminds me of all the broken beads you might find on Bourbon Street. The entire manicure, including doing the base color, took 26 minutes.
Of course I had to share this nail art with flash so you could see the gorgeous reflective finish. How perfect is this finish for a New Orleans Mardi Gras party. I love how the golden green bounce off the purple base.
I wish I had more time to do more nails for one of my favorite times and places but oh well! Laissez les bon temps rouler!

I really like this mani. The colors you used are perfect. I use 2 coats of base sometimes when I think a polish will stain. But never have I worried about purple. I have noticed when I don't use a purple for a time the separation on top looks orange. I think some people are more prone to staining. Sorry that happened .

Thank you, Tami! And you are right about the orange separation. I was also told that purples have red pigment in it although it is rare to stain. I still love this purple so I'll be keeping it in my stash! I wish I had more time for Mardi Gras nails this year, but oh well!
