Morgan Taylor Rocketman Comparisons

Press Sample

You know, I haven't done a comparison post in a looooong time. They really take forever to do. LOL. But when I was swatching the new Morgan Taylor Rocketman collection, some of the colors felt too familiar. Since it was only 4 colors, I figured I would swatch them for myself and give away the dupes, if there were anyway. So I figured, why not share my findings?! Sometimes, colors look the same in the bottles, and appear very different on nails...so let's get to my very scientific findings!

For the sake of ease, I decided to do 2 coats for ALL the colors and did not use any top coat, so as to see the natural finish.

Index and Ring: 2 coats of Put on Your Dancin' Shoes (Rocketman Summer 2019).
Middle and Pinky: 2 coats of A Kiss from Marilyn (Forever Fabulous Holiday 2018).

As I mentioned, these looked exact in the bottle. But you can see Dancin' Shoes has a satin finish and is brighter. A Kiss from Marilyn is a bit deeper and shinier. There's a clear difference in these reds. My eyes fooled me from the bottles!

Index and Ring: 2 coats of It's the Shades (Rocketman Summer 2019)
Middle and Pinky: 2 coats of Tag, You're It (Street Bear Summer 2016)

Again, another being fooled by the bottle. It's the Shades is a straight creme and Tag, You're It has a blue shimmer. Since I didn't top coat, the shimmer is harder to see. Shades is a bit deeper and darker and Tag has more neon to it.

Index and Ring: 2 coats of Just Me and My Piano (Rocketman Summer 2019)
Middle and Pinky: 2 coats of One Piece or Two? (Make a Splash Summer 2018)

When I swatched One Piece or Two? HERE, it looked much nicer. I'm thinking I should have top coated this swatch. Or maybe it needed a better shake. As you can see, there's some balding on One Piece and Piano is perfectly opaque. Both are satin when drying because of their neon quality. I think One Piece has a tad bit more blue in it.  These are very close, but Piano has a nicer formula, as least here. I feel like humidity had something to do with this.

Index and Ring: 2 coats of Sir Teal to You (Rocketman Summer 2019).
Middle and Pinky: 2 coats of Give Me a Break Dance (Street Beat Summer 2016).

This was the color that immediately made me want to do a comparison. I'm so glad I compared them! Obviously, Break Dance needed a third coat. Sir Teal was much more opaque and has a bit more blue to it. Break Dance is more greeen and more sheer, making the shimmer a bit stronger.
