April Polish Pickup Offerings: The 90s

 Press Sample

The Polish Pickup likes to move through the decades! This  month is focusing on the 90s, which is when I grew up! Of course, the inspirations are endless and all over the place this month, which I love. Hair clips, magazine covers, and soda? Love how creative makers are!

7 Cherries Rose Up :) Bath Crumbs
Cost and Cap: $7, no cap.
Scent: This is approximately 2 oz of bath crumbs. They are "Bubbling bath crumbs, scented in white soda. unrefined kokum butter, castor oil, unrefined shea butter, baking soda, citric acid, cosmetic clay, tapioca flour, SLSa(this is the bubbling agent)."
Thoughts: White soda to me smells like lemon line soda (think Sprite or 7UP). And well, this is exactly what it smells like! Like no joke, I could smell the effervescence and the bubbles of the soda. I really love how this smells. It is so refreshing!

7 Cherries Rose Up :): 3 coats.
Cost & Cap: $10 no cap.
Inspiration & Color Description: Sheer cherry red inspired by a red lemon-line soda of the 90s.
Thoughts: I thought this would be way too sheer, but even on my long nails, it has nice coverage! It is a very soft pinky red, which is my preferred red. The shimmer is just enough.

KBShimmer

Fresh Peach Sugar Scrub
Cost and Cap: $10, no cap.
Scent: Fresh Peach Hand & Body Sugar Scrub smells like taking that first bite into a ripe peach.  One whiff of the scrub and you're reminded of the velvety skin of a perfect peach, and can almost feel the sweet but slightly tart juice running down your chin.  This scent truly captures the smell of a fresh peach and is perfectly echoed by the golden yellow color of the scrub swirled with orange and pink.  The very top is dusted with a hint of biodegradable glitter for a sparkling scrub that will bring summer into your shower!
Thoughts: I can literally smell the fuzz of the peaches in this. It might be one of my favorite KBShimmer scents! I need it in a cuticle oil! Even my partner smelled it and commented on how realistic it smelled. Juicy and delicious!

I Just Wanna Fly: 3 coats
Cost & Cap: $11, no cap.
Inspiration & Color Description: As a teen in the '90s, butterfly hair clips were a dream.  A half-dozen of these pastel clips could pull the hair back for a face-framing style that Delia's would love.  Those of us committed to the look even rocked dragonfly or flower clips.  I Just Wanna Fly is a nod to those iridescent accessories.  A pastel, cool-toned purple glimmers with iridescent shimmer.  In low light, a rainbow of hues from pinks to blues come out to play, while brighter lighting will show golds, greens, and aqua, depending on the angle
Thoughts: True life: I still have these clips! Yup! I recently was going through my old bedroom to find something to put in my niece's hair and apparently, I saved a bunch of these hair clips! And my niece loveeeed them. I literally can connect this color to those clips. This polish shifts to gorgeous colors and I was surprised just how shifty it was!

Stella Chroma

NameRefreshing Mask Spray
Cost & Cap: $7 for 2 oz spray bottle, no cap
Scent:We feel like we've been wearing masks for 90 years. And these masks get pretty... stale. Especially after eating onions or garlic. If you need a refresh and you can't brush your teeth or toss your mask in the washer, give it a spray! Scented with a lovely mix of essential oils - orange, cardamom, and mint.
Thoughts: So I sprayed this on my mask and thought, whoa, strong. But as the directions state, waft the mask or let it settle for 30 seconds. And you really should listen to it haha. Don't just shove your mask on your face like I did. It really is a nice lend of oils that smells fresh. But it isn't like a toothpaste fresh. The orange and cardamom give it almost a spicy freshness. It is a perfect size to throw in your purse or leave in your car.

Corporate Magazines Still Suck: 2 coats plus top coat, then matte.
Cost & Cap: $13 for 15mL, no cap. $1 per bottle sold will be donated to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255)
Inspiration & Color Description: "We chose Rolling Stone Magazine's iconic April 1992 cover with Nirvana for our inspiration. That band spoke to the SC middle school soul and Kurt Cobain's suicide was the first that really rocked our world. This vibrant green shade has gold shimmer and holo flake as well as red/yellow shifting flakes. $1 per bottle sold will be donated to the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255)"
Thoughts: I am a long time green polish lover. In fact, I originally planned to stamp some gold four leaf clovers over this for St. Patrick's Day until I realized I didn't have a clove plate. I love the red flakes in this, which almost appear orange. Totally loving it! The flakes and everything together create a gorgeous polish.

These polishes and bath & body products will be available April 2nd-5th in the Polish Pickup shop. Shipping is flat rate $3 in the US and $5 to Canada.
