Born Pretty Magentic Polishes: Paris Winery and Mandala

Press Sample

Hello there! I'm just stopping by with a quickie post on two magnetic polishes from Born Pretty. Magnetic and thermal polishes seem to be all the rage right now. Born Pretty has a huge selection of both of these finishes and today I'm sharing two. These are metallic magnetic polishes, so let's get to it.

Now I fully feel these will be stampers, and I'll probably reach for them for that reason. Formula on both of these was not great. You have to use THICK coats in order to get a decent magnetic effect. I used my bar magnet which always works, but even with this, it wasn't strong enough. I ended up using a super thick second and third coat with the ring magnet to get this effect. Honestly though, I'm not sure how that would affect dry time.

Paris Winery:3 coats plus top coat. Magnetized on the second, third, and top coat. You can find the polish for $2.99 HERE.   This is a frosty pale bronze polish on its own. Once the magnet hits, you'll expose a brick red/deep brown metallic. I found the effect sort of dissipated with the top coat though.

Mandala:  3 coats plus top coat. I magnetized this on the second, third, and top coat. Same issues as above. The polish base is a pale lavender metallic and the magnetic exposes a gorgeous deep berry metallic. I do love that color! This polish retails for $2.99 and you can find it HERE

Overall, I'm just not in love with these as standalone polishes, but I do think they will make for great stampers due to their opaque and metallic nature. For a magnetic, they were a little difficult to use, so I wouldn't suggest them as your first foray into the magnetic polish world.

  1. I have to agree with you on these, I don't love them. The colors are alright but the magnet effect is pretty subtle.

    1. I tried so many ways. But even a magnet directly on the bottle showed a weak effect. What can ya do!?

  2. Thanks for letting me know! I first thought it was user error but I think these are just better as stampers.
