KBShimmer Suns Out Collection, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Today is a big post so sit back! KBShimmer is releasing a collection of nine tri-thermals. These all include aurora shimmers too! It really took forever to swatch these so I really hope you check them  out. I didn't get pictures of the shifting shimmers, but just trust me, they exist haha. I really wanted to show of the three colors of each polish, so that was my focus.

So let me explain my process. The first photo is how the polish looks naturally on my nails. You'll easily see the dual thermal colors. Then I blow dried my nails quickly and dunked them in cold water, so that I could show you the tri-thermal. As you'll see in my last photo, the tri-thermal comes naturally, but these took two hours to swatch, and so I couldn't wait hours for the natural tri-thermal.

Also, these dry somewhat satiny matte, so top coat brings the shine out.

Aft Backwards: 3 coats plus top coat. This tri-thermal polish starts with a deep midnight shade accented by a bright indigo blue aurora shimmer. As your fingers warm, a grape purple gives way to a hot pink. This is the color my mom chose to put on! She had so much fun watching the colors change. I love the medium shade. It's so vibrant and purple! The blue shimmer is incredibly strong. It stands out so nicely.

Aloe There: 2 coats plus top coat. A tri-thermal polish that, when cold, is a rich forest green hue set off by orange-red to green aurora shimmer. Then, as your hands warm, a vibrant Kelly green changes into a bold lime green, really making that shimmer pop! I'm all about the green so I was excited for this one. The shimmer easily shifts from the copper to green. I love how bright the lime green is. The copper shimmer looks awesome against the lime!

Best Buds: 3 coats plus top coat. This tri-thermal polish starts as a jean-like deep slate blue, then warms into a deepened orchid that gives way to a bright minty lime, all accented with classic aurora shimmer that goes from a coppery orange to a bright green. This is one of the more unique color shifts, which is why I love it! The green was such a surprise element! You can see that my pinky was apparently warm as the green pops up. I love the green element. YES.

Grow with the Flow: 3 coats with top coat. A tri-thermal polish that starts as a deep grape purple accented with a soft pink to golden green aurora shimmer. As it warms, a lavender-leaning-periwinkle gives way to a bright robin’s egg blue that’s just perfect to welcome spring and summer days! This is my favorite of the blues in this collection. They are very vibrant! The medium shade is a bit more subtle, as it's a periwinkle against a lighter blue, but I really like it. The shimmer is gorgeous.

Just Glow with It: 3 coats plus top coat. A tri-thermal nail polish that when cold, starts as a near neon red. As your hands warm, a neon coral orange hue shifts to a vibrant hot pink. This bold polish is accented with classic aurora shimmer, going from a coppery orange to a bright green. This one is like hi Michelle, I hate your camera. It is SO bright and neon! This one had the most subtle of the shifts and in combination with my camera, it was hard to pick up. You can easily see the coral and red, but there is a pink in there. Just look closely! So bright!

Pool Shark: 2 coats plus top coat. This tri-thermal polish starts as a deep slate-leaning-navy blue accented by a soft pink to green and gold aurora shimmer. When warmer, a deep periwinkle blue gives way to a light and bright sky blue for a truly pool-ready shade! This is darker thn Grow with the Flow but the warm color is much lighter! It helps to see the three colors really easily. Definitely a darker color for spring, but I'm never one to stick with conventions.

Reel Good Time: 3 coats plus top coat. A tri-thermal polish that starts as a deep eggplant burgundy color accented with an aurora shimmer that shifts from a flashy coppery red to green. As your hands warm, a purple-leaning-indigo shifts to a light orchid pink. I didn't always look at what the colors were supposed to shift to, lol, so I was like oooh love this orchid! This is another pretty purple shade. I'm not a huge purple person and I was just really digging these! This one isn't as vibrant or bright as Aft Backwards. Totally different vibes so don't make me choose one.

Slay La Vie: 2 coats plus top coat. This tri-thermal polish starts as a vibrant magenta color that quickly shifts to a bold rose hue, which then morphs into a shocking hot pink. Sparks of an indigo to blue aurora shimmer set off this pink hued polish. This is the other neon of the collection and WOW! Again, that shimmer places nicely against the neon thermal base. You can see the middle rose hue, but just like Just Glow With It, my camera was like hey now. The differences are stronger in person.

That's Smore Like It: 3 coats plus top coat. Starts as a milk chocolate brown glowing with bright aurora shimmer. As your hands warm, a fiery red gives way to a light orchid, while the shimmer shows off flashy gold and green tones. This is my favorite of the collection and it's the one I finished on so I could wear it. I love the chocolate brown color and the muted red. Just so pretty! The shifts are really strong too! This is another unique shift and I think that's why I gravitate towards it!

I just wanted to share a photo I took real quick in my classroom. You can certainly get the thermal look on your own naturally, as I did here! I just didn't feel like waiting around for it in my swatches. I'm such a creeper and like lowered my hand by my purse LOL. That's why it's blurry. I will mention that after two days, I did have some tip wear. KBShimmer usually wears much better on me, but maybe not these thermals?

  1. Aft Backwards, Reel Good Time, Pool Shark, and Slay la Vie are my favorites. Thank you for not only taking the time to swatch, but also to explain how they work -- in photos alone, thermals always confuse me! ;)

    1. Thank YOU for reading my blog! I know thermals can seem intimidating, but they are fun. My mom has really short nails, and Aft Backwards transitioned so easily!

  3. I found these to be so much fun. I’m still wear testing through them and find it a blast but photographing them is definitely a beast. I am very worried my pics are going to suck because I have nubs! Anyway, love the tri effect in that quickie shot you took, showing it “in the wild” lol!

  6. I'm amazed at the complexity of these polishes. They are so unusual and I won't rest until I buy some. Aft Backwards is my first pick but I think I'm going to need Reel Good Time too.

  7. I’m not really a thermal fan, but some of the shades like Aft Backwards etc are the most striking thermals i’ve Ever seen

  8. This is a really pretty collection. I like that some of the tri-thermals are super evident but some of them kind of blend really well.

  11. OMG. I've never seen a tri-thermal polish before. I'm wowed by Aft Backwards, I'd wear that deep purple even if it didn't change colours.

  15. Holy cow KBShimmer. This is a great showing of tri-thermals with such great variety. And I know that it's quality too not JUST quantity. Having short nails, I know it's harder to wear thermals but it's still a fun bonus!
