Back to School Paper Nail Art

Partial Press Sample

Monday is Labor Day which means most schools in my area start school on Tuesday. Even though I began this past week (I'm in high ed), I'm still freshly in the back-to-school mood. What's fun about the class I teach in the fall is that I teach an 8:30am (first one of the day) class on Monday to first years. That means I was the students' first college class ever. I take more pride in that than I should 😂😂😂 Anyway, I wore these nails to welcome them to college.

I started with a base of OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I like this color because it's not stark white and it has just enough grey to look nice.

Then I did horizontal stripes with KBShimmer Double Pog Dare You and a vertical strip with KBShimmer Chai-huahua. Topped it with KBShimmer Clearly on Top and then Oh Matte! SO simple and easy! Since I teach in humanities, writing is everything and I use a lot of paper!

I feel it looks much more like paper when it's matte! A few other professors noticed my nails haha.

  1. These are too cute and I love that anyone can do them with out all the striping tape or liquid latex and all that jazz. My kids started early last month but it's still a great look to rock for teachers!

    1. I remember when striping tape was all the rage. I have it but I am wayyyy too impatient to wait for it to dry so I just freehanded the best I could. Early last month?! Eek! But they probably get out before us.

  2. Maggie starts back on Tuesday. She'll only be in school for 2 days before we pull her out to head up to NYC for her bday. haha I dig this mani and definitely prefer it matted!

  3. Yet again that matte look really seals this look for me. It's so paper-like!

    1. I think so too! I didn't mind it glossy but matte makes it more realistic.

  5. Clever idea for a mani. Reminds me of the good old days of writing in a notebook

    1. I still make my students write in a notebook. Studies show that they retain more by physically writing vs typing!

  7. Perfect for back to school! You did fantastic free hand lines! I didn't know you taught first year students - that must be fun - seeing them all nervous and awkward. :)

    1. I have mostly first years in the fall. In the spring, I teach freshman-juniors so it's a nice mix. It's fun to see them awkward and then the second class, they open up!
