Welcome to 2017 Nail Art

Press Sample

Hello all! I took a cue from my first post of 2016, and decided I wanted to do similar nails! I reversed the color of my base because the moment I swatched KBShimmer Whiskey Business,  I knew it had to be my New Year's Eve manicure. It's just the perfect gold polish.

I wanted to go simple for a few reasons:

1. I knew today would be bountiful sunshine! I love, whenever possible, to give you sun shots of gorgeous holos and shimmers in addition to shade and artificial lighting. It's so crucial when you have a complex polish to see it in as many lightings as possible. I hope you like it too! I knew I had a few that were waiting on sunshine.

2. I hate taking off complex nail art just after a day. I'm convinced one of the reasons I'm not a huge blogger is because I can't take off complex art 10 minutes after doing them and churn out one a day. It's why I never participate in the 31 day challenge. Let me wear my art for 2-3 days!

3. I always find my simple art looks better...which then I feel bad taking off! But at least I know it's easy to recreate!

This look was fairly simple! I used two coats of KBShimmer Whiskey Business as my base. Then I outline 2017, with one number on each of my nails, using Paint Box Polish Axe Fight. I did one coat of the numbers. Then I went back in and did another coat of Axe Fight, one number at a time, and with a dotting tool, added little gold glitters. Topped it all with Girly Bits Glitter Glaze! Done and done!

Direct sunlight. Look at how fun the glitters are. They aren't holo, but they are super sparkly!

  1. Oooh yes, that is certainly the perfect gold base! I'm yellow-toned and can't pull off golds, but this one is beautiful.

  2. That base was the perfect choice and I love this. The addition of the glitter in the numbers is that perfect something extra!

    1. Thanks! Without the glitter placement, the nail art appeared flat. Yes for bling!

  6. Is that hand-placed glitter? That's awesome! I have a lot of patience for nail art but not for placing glitter.

    1. Yep, hand placed! It actually goes by really quickly! I might try doing an entire nail for 2017, but the numbers are pretty easy!

    1. Thanks!! It's actually because everyone calls me MK! But MK is already trademarked so I spelled it out :)
