Flannel Nail Art with China Glaze Rebel Collection

Press Sample

Say hello to my new shorties. I had been patching a tear for months on one of my nails and my nails finally said NO MORE, START AFRESH. So I did. And then, I even further filed them in a frenzy after this post, so I hope you don't mind. It's only temporary but man, is it weird to feel my fingertips HAHA. I've been sharing some older swatches I held on to but now, it's my current nails. Ok, on to the polish!

Flannel Nail Art with China Glaze Rebel Collection

As soon as I received the China Glaze Rebel collection and read all the 90s inspired nails, I knew I needed to do flannel nails. What's more 90s than flannel?! But with all the warm weather, I wasn't ready for it yet. I actually originally wanted to do a flannel look from Mr. Candiipants, but settled on a simpler version from Wondrously Polished, and then I simplified it further haha.

First, I couldn't decide on my base, so I tried out two versions. I liked both but went with a red base!

1. I started with a base of two coats of Y'all Red-y For This, a beautiful red shimmer.
2. Then I added two lines using Combat Blue-Ts.
3.I added a line using Blue-Ya across my nail horizontally and down the outside Combat Blue Ts line.
4. I added two horizontal lines with Dope Taupe.
5. Topped it with top coat and wore it shiny a few days, then with matte.

So what do you think of my extremely simplified flannel nails? I think I may like it shiny this time but the matte looks fancier. Which do you prefer? And do you think I should have done the taupe base?!

One thing to note, is be careful of staining upon removal! The red is gorgeous but it leaves its mark!

The Rebel Collection is available now with select shades at Ulta and Sally's. The complete collection will be at BeautyPlusSalon.com and retail for $7.50 each.

  1. These are fantastic. I would wear them when listening to Nirvana and ripping my jeans.

    1. These surprisingly did not take long at all. I didn't bother with striping tape and just freehanded. It's not straight but meh to perfection!

  3. That extra sensory bit that happens after shortening is the weirdest. I dig the flannel nails & shorties!
