Morgan Taylor Beauty and the Beast Collection, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

As a child born in the late 80s, Beauty and the Beast was my absolute favorite. Something with Belle resonated with me and I just loved her affinity for books (hello, I'm an English professor!), her yellow dress, her ability to see through "ugliness." So when the live action movie was announced, I was halfway between "YESSSSS" and "awww don't mess with my favorite." I don't think they chose the right Belle, but that's a whole other story. So Morgan Taylor had the chance to collaborate with the movie and I have the swatches for you tonight! I'll be back Monday morning with some themed art.

Morgan Taylor Beauty and the Beast Collection

Before we get into swatches, I wanted to mention that Morgan Taylor has changed their brushes! They now have a wide brush which many prefer. The top is the new brush and the bottom is the brush from the Fall 2016 collection. I know people love the wide brush so they will be happy.

Days in the Sun: 3 coats. This is a fun Belle yellow! Just like her dress, it is a shimmery yellow. This is opaque in 3 coats and self levels, which is nice for a yellow! I love the hint of orange shimmer.

Plumette with Excitement: 3 coats. This is a classic pale pink creme. Again, it levels on its own, so I really appreciate it. I love this color on my toes.

Be Our Guest: 2 coats.  This is a darker pink creme. The formula is fantastic at 2 coats and I love this color. I think of the intricate pinks in the castle on dishware or the top of Mrs. Potts tea kettle.

Potts of Tea: 3 coats. If Be Out Guest is the top of Mrs. Potts, then Potts of Tea is the rest of the china ware. It's got a subtle silver shimmer and the alabaster color is super wearable without being stark white.

The Last Petal: 1-2 coats. This was pretty opaque at one coat but I did two out of habit. I love the glow in this. It reminds me of the glowing rose!

Enchanted Patina: 1 coat. This is a shimmery overlay polish but it's opaque at two coats. It transforms polish colors. You can see the difference over three colors below (read the caption). I love it over Be Our Guest!

Gaston and On and On: 3 coats. The yellow and blue in this collection really fit with the film. I love the way they look together too. I love this shade of blue.

I think there are always high expectations when it comes to movie collaborations. I think Days in the Sun nailed it as Belle's dress and The Last Petal is glowy rose perfection. I've done a nail art that I will post on Monday and when you see it, I think you'll see how cohesive this collection is together! Are you planning to see the new film?! What do you think of the collection?

These polishes are available NOW for $9.00 each. They will also be available in Gelish MINI at $12.00 at Sally Beauty. All the colors come in Gelish except Enchanted Patina.

    1. It's cool how just one coat can make a new polish but two coats on its own is opaque. The last petal is glowy perfection!

  3. The Last Petal is so gorgeous and I agree with you - those brushes are the bees knees. I can't wait to see what people say about the movie - I've seen the animated film a ton growing up & I also agree the Belle isn't whom I would have selected.

  10. I wonder how Potts of Tea compares to Essence Gray-t To be Here. Its one of my favorite grays, but I hate the quick-dry formula.

    1. Hmmm I don't have that one! This is an alabaster so it's more white than grey but it's definitely greyed out
