China Glaze Seas and Greetings, Swatches and Review

Press Sample

Take a seat and relax as I share with you the Holiday 2016 collection from China Glaze! This holiday collection is a total departure from what we know to be holiday collections, and I'm totally okay with that. It's inspired by California Christmas, as China Glaze is based out of California. These are beachy colors, yet, the names totally scream holiday and these actually do work for holiday art. This is a 12 piece collection, so grab your coffee and let's begin.

China Glaze Seas and Greetings, Swatches and Review

Snow Way: 3 coats plus top coat. Yes, yes, and more yes. You can't deny that this is a winter color. It's an off white with a strong copper (orange-pink) shimmer. It's light, it's beautiful. I can't say enough good things about this color.

If you think this color looks like Pearl Jammin from the Fall 2016 Rebel Collection, it's because they both have that stunning orange-pink shimmer! They are very clearly different colors, but swoon. Together, these make a beautiful wintry mani!

Partridge in a Palm Tree: 3 coats. This polish is naturally matte, so you want to work a bit faster than normal polish so you have a nice even layer. This green is my jam. I love this shade. It's in between sea foam and teal and it is so beautiful as a matte color!

China Glaze Partridge in a Palm Tree, with top coat. Look at that shimmer. It's beautiful both ways. Not sure which I like more.

Twinkle Twinkle Little Starfish: One coat over Partridge in a Palm Tree. This would make as a pretty shimmer over your nails, but for me, it would never give full coverage, so I chose to layer it. This has a slight green tint, so it would best be over blues, greens, and black. It really does add that nice twinkle!

Good Tide-ings: 2 coats. Periwinkle ocean blue creme. Need I say more? Beautiful formula in two coats. This is another one of those winter colors, perfect for snow manis. Or it could be the ocean. You choose.

Joy to the Waves: 3 thin coats plus top coat. Another ocean inspiration but this is a deeper blue that has gold shimmer so it leans green. This was my least favorite of the collection as you can see there are brush strokes. Less strokes is the best. I do like the base color, but the shimmer is maybe a tad too strong.

Seas and Greetings: 3 thin coats plus top coat. The namesake of the collection and I am loving it! I love this take of holiday purple as it's bright but still royal! The pink shimmer is perfectly balanced for me (vs Joy to the Waves) and I think any purple lover would love this.

Eat, Pink and Be Merry: 4 coats for photos, but 3 for real life. You could see some nail line in my photos, so I slapped on a fourth coat. But really, 3 coats is fine. I think of Merry Pinkmas with this color. A girly pink with pink shimmer. I actually love this pink on my skin and this is already going to be in Valentine's Day manicures!

I had to do a comparison since these looked similar in the bottle, but I was so so wrong. Index is Fresh Prince-ss from the Fall 2016 Rebel Collection, and ring is Sand in my Mistletoes. All gorgeous. None are similar.

Sand in my Mistletoes: 3 coats plus top coat. Another great creme, this time it's a pinky yellowy beige. I realize that conflicts, but I don't know how else to explain it. It's a much brighter neutral color and I love it on my skin tone. Maybe I need to move to California because these colors are loving me and vice versa!

Shell-ebrate: 1 coat over Sand in my Mistletoes. It's not a China Glaze collection without one glitter and one shimmer top coat. Here is the glitter! It has gold microglitter, which basically reminds me of sand. There are larger copper and purple glitters. I was heavy handed on my ring finger, so you can see that this might be opaque in 4 coats.

Tis the Sea-sun: 2 coats. I can't even pretend that this is a winter color, but I love it. It's a coral neon perfect for winter pedicures. I can see myself putting this on my toes when it's 4 degrees out and feeling warm!

Warm Wishes: 3 coats. 2 coats had slight VNL so I slapped on a third. Unlike Tis the Sea-sun, this coral leans much more pink than orange and has a slight shimmer. This is one of those colors that will look good on all skin tones. It's classic and beautiful.

The More The Berrier: 1-2 coats. I actually wore this for a few days. It is a metallic foil, so I did experience tip wear within 2 days, but I got a lot of compliments. Everyone noticed my nails. I thought it would be close to Y'all Red-y for This, but this is much more pink and berry toned. It's a foil so watch for staining with removal.

I have a lot of favorites in this collection but I'll narrow it down to Snow Way, Partridge in a Palm Tree, Good Tide-ings, Seas and Greeting, Sand in My Mistletoes, Warm Wishes, and Eat, Pink and Be Merry. Ok that didn't really help at all! LOL.

The Seas and Greetings Collection is available now with select shades at Sally's. The complete collection will be at BeautyPlusSalon.com and retail for $7.50 each.

    1. I only saw one person with cracking issues on IG. I haven't seen that many complaints. The formula was better than fall's Combat Blue Ts too!

    2. All the other blog posts I've read on this collection said they had issues with the formula on that one and you can see it in their pictures. I haven't searched through IG much though.

  14. The names for the polishes are GREAT! I'm not a fan of those metallic types and prefer what you did when you added the top coats to them.
