ORLY One Nail Stand Peel Off Base Coat Wear Test and Review

Press Sample

Today I'm showing you something different, a peel off base coat from ORLY called One Night Stand! We have been hearing about peel off base coats for a long time now. It makes for easy glitter removal! I tried to Elmer's glue trick around 4 years ago and my nail polish slid right off the next morning. Suffice to say, I haven't tried it since! So when I received ORLY One Night Stand, I was excited to give it a try!

First, I put down a thin layer of the base coat. You can see I was a bit too heavy handed on my ring finger (the first nail I usually paint). I also wanted to make sure I snapped a pick of how it looks on the nail. Since it is so thin, it clumped on my index as it slid. No worries, I just evened it out (and normal people don't put on base coat and run to take photos!).

Wait 5-10 minutes and the base coat becomes clear and evens out! As you can see, this does nothing to help my stained nails, so sorry for objecting you to them!

I then put on 3 coats of a microglitter. I love microglitters but they can be such a pain!

Then I decided to give this a go with a wear test. Granted, previously peel-off base coats literally made my polish slide off. I wore this polish for four warm showers and teaching with chalk boards and it wore like iron. You can see I barely have tip wear!

Give the polish a nudge with an orange stick to begin removal.

Some slid off easily like here, but others I had to do a bit more work.

You can see here that not all nails came off so well. Maybe I did TOO thin of a coat, but I'm much happier with the result from ORLY and the wear time of the polish. Please note the warning on the box that says to expect 24 hours of wear. It's grat for people who can only wear glitter polish on the weekend.

  1. I'll have to try this one! I got the Sally Hansen peel-off base coat for when I wear glitters, but I swear I grabbed my coffee mug two hours later and it started peeling up! It also smelled EXACTLY like Elmer's glue.

    1. This one kind of smells like it but not really. I was like "here we go again". But whatever else is in there definitely gives it staying power. Again, it is advertised as a one night wear but it definitely worked longer.
