Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Summer Collection: Far from the Sun Partial Review

Press Sample

Today I have four of eight of the new Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer summer collection called Far from the Sun. I mean it when I say I need to pick up the others in this collection. My first experience with BEGL was when she offered to make me a very special polish, and well, the polishes are as amazing as the maker! I'm so impressed with these polishes, so keep reading for more pictures of these gorgeous polishes.

Blue-Eyed Girl Lacquer Summer Collection: Far from the Sun

Julie, the maker, says these polishes were inspired by beach sunsets and sunrises: "I attempted to capture the rich colors found in beach sunsets through a combination of bright colors with interesting shifts and shimmers." I think this description is on point as the holo polishes have gorgeous shimmers and the glitter polish seriously glows.

All four polishes were two coats to be opaque. The glitter, Sail Her Don't Sink Her was thick but in a good way, especially for a microglitter. Easy application, they all dried quickly. All photos are taken in natural sunlight with a few in the shade to show off the shimmers and flakes.

Chlorine Line is described as "bright blue linear holographic with rainbow micro-flakies with a slight metallic finish." The flakies are really beautiful and most prevalent in the shade. I really love them because typically, holo polishes can look flat in the shade, but the flakies give it great depth. Two coats and no top coat.

Intersecting Lines in the Sand: I just love the name of this polish. It's very visual. I thought this polish would look heinous on me, but once on, I quite enjoyed it. I LOVE how unique it is in my stash, especially with the blue shimmer. You can see the shimmer in the last close up photo. Two coats and no top coat.

Fare the Wind is a "darker blue-leaning purple linear holographic with a blue to purple shift and red micro-flakies with a slight metallic finish." The red micro-flakies are not as obvious as the flakies and shimmers in the previous two holos, but this purple is super gorgeous. I thought it might be similar to other purple holos I have, but nope (comparison, maybe?). In the blurred photo, you can see the red flakes. Two coats and no top coat.

Last is Sail Her Don’t Sink Her which is a "pink, purple, red, gold, and orange microglitter in a clear base.  Dries with a textured finish." I LOVE this! You know I love my texture polishes and this reminds me of another brand's "chunky textures" minus the chunk but just as much sparkle (which is what I prefer). The texture dried down super quick. Once you add top coat, wow, the depth.

There are four other colors in this collection, and if these four are any indication of all her quality, I say you need them. I really loved the ease of application and the originality and concept of this collection.

The collection will be available starting July 20, 2014 at 3:30 pm EDT.  The linear holographics will be $12, the micro glitter will be $8.50, and the full set of 8 polishes will be $98, which includes DOMESTIC priority shipping.  Head to the BEGL store HERE and make sure you LIKE BEGL on Facebook to get updates on restocks and new colors.
